Weight Loss Wednesday!

We did it!!

Danny and I both won the FitFluential DietBet! I’ll admit that I was a little worried there that we wouldn’t make it, but we made it by the skin of our teeth. :)

I ended this DietBet about two pounds higher than my lowest recent weight, which really isn’t much of a difference.

This is my before and after picture – where I am two pounds lighter. I will be taking new before and after pictures soon.

I think that the weight I am currently at is the weight that my body is comfortable with and a weight that I am happy with. It seems like anything below what I am now is too hard to maintain.

In a little bit over a year, I have lost approximately 32 pounds, and I am very happy with that. Danny has lost almost 25 pounds since January, and he’s doing great. I am proud of both of us.

My goal now is just to maintain my current weight, continue to eat healthy and workout, watch my weekend eating, and to be happy.

Today’s Workout

  • Elliptical – 12 minutes
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • 2.4 miles, treadmill

This morning it was storming, cold, and windy outside. Jaden was happy because he got to use his umbrella.

But I had to complete my 15k training on the treadmill rather than outside today. Today’s part of the plan only called for two miles. I actually walked/ran the two miles because my legs were super sore today.

After my workout, I had a Clif Mojo bar.

I actually bought this bar because I had a coupon for it, and it ended up costing 50 cents, but I really liked it and would buy it again.

I also had a well-deserved small package of Cadbury mini eggs that I stole from my kids and hid until the DietBet was over.

Don’t worry – they got so much candy and chocolate for Easter that they didn’t even know these were missing. In fact, I could probably eat half their Easter candy and they wouldn’t even know it.

Have a great afternoon!

  • What goals do you have for yourself?
  • Do you like storms?

Weight Loss Wednesday!

Last Night’s Workout

  • Cardio Dance – 60 minutes

Danny also had a dentist appointment yesterday, so he was home at about 5:05 pm. Since Cardio Dance starts at 5:15 pm, I usually can’t go, but since Danny was home early I had just enough time to get to the gym. And it’s always easier to go to the gym when the sun is still shining rather than when it’s dark outside.

Cardio Dance is pretty much Zumba - the workout is just a bit more intense, there’s a lot more jumping, and my heart rate gets up faster. It was a great class, and my legs are still sore today.

After Cardio Dance, I stopped by Jaden’s school and picked up some candy that we ordered for a fundraiser. I bought a few candies for Easter, but I opened the chocolate covered caramels when I got home.

I had two pieces as an after dinner treat – 54 calories. Not bad.

As I’ve said before – I believe in everything in moderation and always save some calories for an after dinner treat. I was very proud of myself for only eating two. Those little candies are the ones that I have sometimes a hard timing stopping once I’ve started eating them.

I was hungry when I got home from Cardio Dance class. Danny made me salmon belle mar for dinner while I was gone. (Salmon stuffed with crab – bought pre-made at Target). I also threw together a quick veggie salad.

I used romaine lettuce and added red pepper, green pepper, cucumbers, and pickles (my fav)! I topped with the a bit of garlic hummus as dressing.

I like making salads at home, but I always get stuck on the dressing. Dressing from a bottle isn’t as good as dressing from a restaurant, and I can never find a bottled dressing that I like. Or I buy one and don’t use it often and end up having to throw it away. So, lately I have been using hummus as dressing.

Weight Loss Wednesday!

We’re going into the second week of the FitFluential DietBet. When I first weighed in, my weight was up quite a bit – I was coming off a weekend of eating a lot and other things were going on…so my weight is down quite a bit this week. I have lost about 3.5 pounds since last week, but that just puts me back at my normal weight.

Danny also joined this DietBet with me (because I asked him to…repeatedly). He is doing awesome as usual! He has lost about 3 pounds since last week and now weighs less than 200 pounds. His first mini goal was to weigh under 200 pounds and he did it! He currently weighs 198 pounds (he’s 6’3″) and he’s still going.

He has lost about 21 pounds since January! He seems to lose weight a lot easier than I do. Maybe it’s a male thing :)

Today’s Workout

  • Plank #20 – 3 minutes and 5 seconds
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • 2.72 miles treadmill, walked

The other day my BodyMedia Fit band broke.

I admit that I experienced a moment of panic. I have been wearing this device constantly for three months, and it measures my calories burned, steps taken, and sleep.

Although I have gone my entire life without wearing one, I have grown used to it and checking my stats everyday. So, when it broke, I panicked. Luckily, it’s still holding on by a thread. I emailed BodyMedia, and they were awesome enough to send me out a new band at no charge.

I love a company with great customer service that stands behind their product. Now I just hope that it holds on until the new band arrives :)

Designer Whey

Good morning!

Recently, Designer Whey sent me some goodies to try out.

The first thing I did was open up the peanut butter crunch bar and eat it because it said peanut butter on it. Enough said.

The bar was delicious, and I can see myself eating these after BodyPump on a regular basis. Is there a better combo than chocolate and peanut butter?!

Included was:

  • Protein powder – white chocolate and french vanilla
  • Protein 2 Go Drink Mix – lemonade, mixed berry, and tropical orange
  • 100 calorie high protein shakes – french vanilla and gourmet chocolate
  • Protein bars – peanut butter crunch, chocolate caramel crunch, and triple chocolate crunch

The first thing I noticed about the Designer Whey products are that they’re fairly low in calories, but high in protein. The protein powder and high protein mixed drinks are the perfect small snack for after BodyPump or a strength training workout when you’re body needs protein the most. A 100 calorie shake with 18 grams of protein is great.

And it tastes great. There’s always that worry that protein powder will taste too chalky, but the Designer Whey products don’t taste chalky. They’re smooth and have a great taste.

I love adding protein powder to smoothies and such, but Danny likes mixing it with water or milk and drinking it. He had the french vanilla protein powder after his morning workout and loved it.

I was very excited about the protein drink mixes. I drink a lot of water, and besides one cup of coffee, water is all I drink all day long. These protein drink mixes are a great way to add some flavor and protein to my otherwise boring water.

Only 50 calories, 10 grams of protein, and 1 gram of sugar. As someone who is always trying to eat more protein and less sugar, these drink mixes are perfect.

Danny and I also had the vanilla and chocolate high protein shakes after working out and loved them! With only 100 calories and 18 grams of protein, they’re perfect for after BodyPump.

I was excited to try out the protein powder in two of my favorite recipes – peanut butter french toast and a smoothie.

I used the white chocolate protein powder in my peanut butter stuffed french toast recipe.

White Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein French Toast    Serves: 1

  • Two slices of bread (I use Healthy Life bread – each slice is 35 calories)
  • 1 egg white
  • splash of almond milk
  • 1/2 scoop Designer Whey white chocolate protein powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter

  1. Beat egg white, almond milk, cinnamon, and protein powder in a shallow dish.
  2. Heat pan over medium heat. Spread peanut butter on slices of bread and put place together, like a sandwich.
  3. Dip both sides of sandwich into egg mixture.
  4. Cook each side about 2-3 minutes or until lightly browned.
  5. Enjoy with your favorite toppings – syrup, apples, peanut butter, etc.

Total Calories (without toppings): Approx. 240    Total Protein: Approx. 21.6 grams

I topped my french toast with cinnamon apples and sugar-free syrup. Delicious!

The next recipe that I used the Designer Whey protein powder in was a smoothie.

Sunrise Strawberry Protein Smoothie

  • 1/2 cup frozen peaches
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 scoop Designer Whey vanilla protein powder
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 6 oz. Tropicana Trop50 orange juice
  • Approx. 4-5 crushed ice cubes

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend!
  2. Enjoy!

Total Calories: 175    Total Protein: 11 grams

I topped my smoothie with Cheerios Crunch Medley cereal, of course!

  • What’s you favorite way to use protein powder? Favorite flavor?

FitFluential DietBet

As you guys know, I’ve mentioned DietBet in the past, and I thought I’d talk a little bit more about it today. I think the concept behind DietBet is very unique and a great motivator to people like myself who are trying to lose weight – whether you are just beginning your weight loss journey or you’re just trying to lose those last few pesky pounds.

Here’s how it works:
[vimeo http://www.vimeo.com/53184623 w=400&h=300]

The idea behind DietBet is simple – you pay a specified amount of money, then you have four weeks from the time the game begins to lose 4% of your body weight. So, for example, if you weigh 200 pounds, you would need to lose eight pounds. All of the player’s money goes into the pot, and if you’ve lost your 4% after four weeks, you split the pot with the other winners.

This is a great way to do it because one person doesn’t win the pot – as long as you lose your 4%, you’re guaranteed to win money back!

You submit  two photos of yourself – one of your weight on the scale, and one of a full body picture of yourself on the scale. DietBet confirms your pictures and you’re good to go!

The losing weight part is pretty much left up to you, but the online DietBet community is amazing. Each game has its own message board where you can post your workouts, what you ate – good and bad, encourage others, get encouragement from others, and ask questions. It’s a great way to connect with people who are trying to lose weight just like you.

You can post your weight (it can be kept hidden) as you go, but you are only required to actually post it twice – at the beginning and the end of the game. At the end of the game, you submit another picture of yourself on the scale and of your weight.

FitFluential is holding a DietBet that I am very happy to be a part of – participating in a DietBet holds me accountable for my actions and makes me really think about whether or not I need that second cookie…or third :)

The Fitfluential DietBet will run from March 12 – April 8th. Perfect timing to get ready for Spring Break!

DietBet is open to anyone and I would love it if some of you would join me in this game! Whether this is your first time trying to lose weight or you’re a weight loss pro, DietBet is a great motivator! If you would like to join in the DietBet with me, you can sign up here: http://bit.ly/ffdietbet

The reason I am most excited to participate in this DietBet is because the last day of the DietBet (April 8th) will mark exactly a year since I started my weight loss journey.

Hopefully, one more picture to go, and I be able to look back on my total weight loss over the past year! Don’t forget to sign up HERE to participate if you want to join with me!

Weight Loss

I did really good cutting back on my sugar yesterday, But, like I’ve mentioned before, I usually eat really good during the week anyway. It’s the weekend that always gets me!

Here is what my meals looked like yesterday:

Breakfast/pre-workout: coffee, Kashi cereal with almond milk, blueberries

Post workout snack: Mint Builder bar

Lunch: Smoothie

Afternoon snack: Cherry Fage Greek yogurt, mini package of pistachios (five pistachios)

Dinner: Salmon, roasted broccoli and carrots made with olive oil and garlic, clementine

Late snack/dessert: Atkin’s bar

Weight Loss

I have found that being held accountable for my food and weight is what really motivates me. I signed up for my first weight loss challenge in March of 2012. I came in first place and lost 20 pounds. Soon after, I signed up for the Biggest Loser at my gym, and I lost another 11 pounds. After that I signed up for the Diet Bet and another Diet Bet after the holidays.

I only succeeded in losing weight when I was part of these programs. My favorite was the Biggest Loser because we worked out three days a week, met with a nutritionist, kept food journals, and trained for a 5k. But this has shown me that although I can lose weight on my own, I do it better when I am part of a group or I am being held accountable to someone other than myself.

That being said, I have decided to sign up for another DietBet . I am no longer overweight. I am at a healthy weight for my height (5’8″) and I am right at the middle range. But I know that I gain weight very easy and often without realizing it.

This DietBet will help me get back on track and be held accountable. This time, it’s more about focusing on healthy weekend eating and being held accountable than it is about losing weight. This time, I won’t push myself to lose the weight, and if I don’t lose my 4% (approx. 5 pounds) I will be okay with that. This time it’s about maintaining what I have lost but in a way that I know helps me (being part of a program or “group”).

I don’t want to come across like I feel like I need to lose a lot of weight and I am unhappy with myself. Because actually, I am very proud of myself for losing over 30 pounds and all the hard work that went into it. I am happy that I can fit into clothes without being uncomfortable. But I am not at a place where I can continue on my own and be okay. (I love chocolate and ice cream and candy too much…) Instead, this Diet Bet will help me stay on track.

Would you guys still be interested in DietBet/weight loss updates or no?

I have muscles now! And crazy hair as normal:

Today’s Workout

  • 1.07 miles treadmill, walked
  • Butts and Guts class – 60 minutes
  • Stairmaster – 15 minutes

Yes, my gym finally got a Stairmaster!

I jumped on it after Butts and Guts class for 15 minutes. I haven’t been on the Stairmaster for a long time, so I took it kind of slow. I did an interval program with one minute slow climbing and one minute fast climbing. I also did a few minutes of sideways stepping.

A sports doctor told me once that all the repetitive forward motion isn’t good for your hips and legs (running on a treadmill, the elliptical, etc). And sometimes you need to run and step sideways. I had hip bursitis at the time from all of the repetitive forward motion I was doing on cardio machines.

I wore my new pink tank top today.

I had Jaden take my picture instead of the awkward self-pic, but he had a little too much and took about 47 pictures. :)

After my hour and a half workout, I realized that I wasn’t wearing my BodyMedia armband. :( I plugged it into the computer this morning and forgot to put it back on. I was pretty bummed because I like to see my steps and calories after my workouts… and now I will never know.

Lunch this afternoon was a stuffed pepper.

I stuff mine with brown rice, spinach, and feta cheese. So good! I also had a Chobani Champions Tube yogurt for a little bit more protein.

These are geared toward kids, but I actually bought them for myself. One tube only has 70 calories and 5 grams of protein.

I hope you all have a great afternoon!

Jillian Michaels Detox Water

My final weight has been submitted and reviewed by Diet Bet, and I am an official winner! (Danny is submitting his weight tonight.) I lost a total of 6.6 pounds in four weeks. Now, we just have to wait until everyone weighs in to see how much money we won!

I am a little nervous now that the Diet Bet is over. Challenges like Diet Bet and The Biggest Loser program that I participated in at my gym over the summer really help keep me motivated and accountable. Once they’re over, I feel like I’ll start slipping into my old habits of overeating and consuming way too much sugar. Then, I think about how far I’ve come, and how I don’t want to gain back any of the weight that I loss.

I have lost 34 pounds since April 2012 and that is an accomplishment for me. I will be posting updated weight loss pics soon. But we have a lot of days coming up soon that require being around a lot of snacks and food, and I sometimes have a hard time with portion control.

Jaden’s family birthday party is Saturday and we’re having pizza, salad, snacks, and cake. Tuesday is his actual birthday, and he wants to go to Red Robin (hello, bottomless steak fries). Thursday is Valentine’s Day, and I plan on making stuffed shells…and I bought Funfetti Valentine’s cake mix.

Then, my dad and stepmom’s birthday is the following weekend, and there will be more cake involved.

I just really need to stick to making healthy choices and having treats in moderation. But sometimes that’s easier said than done. We’ll see how it goes!

Detox Water

I was browsing on Pinterest the other day, and I came across a recipe for Jillian Michael’s detox water/tea. Basically, you mix up the following ingredients:

  • 60 ounces distilled water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar-free cranberry juice
  • 1 dandelion root tea bag
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice

Then, you drink the whole thing throughout the day. You mix up a new batch everyday for seven days. It’s supposed to help you remove the toxins from your body and shed any water weight.

The thing that I liked about this detox tea is that it is not a fast. You continue to eat during the day as you normally would. It’s not a cleanse or a fast where all you do is drink and not eat any food. You simply drink the tea all day in addition to your regular diet.

The ingredients are pretty simple and normal, so I was thinking about trying it out just to see if it helps or has any benefits. I’m thinking about starting it next week and drinking the tea for one week.

Today’s Workout

  • 1.05 miles treadmill, walked <—- Yes, I’m still just walking
  • Step Class – 60 minutes

There is one word for today’s Step class: Intense. The normal Step instructor was out today because of back problems, and the sub was one of the other instructors (she was also one of the instructors for the Biggest Loser, Body Pump, and a personal trainer) and she is tough! Needless to say, today’s Step class was a great workout.

After my hard workout, I treated myself to a McDonald’s coffee and coffee yogurt. I figure it’s better than chocolate cake. Well, nothing’s better than chocolate cake. I figure it’s got to be healthier than chocolate cake.

Lunch this afternoon was scrambled egg whites with red onion, green pepper, broccoli, and feta cheese with peanut butter french toast and blueberries.

Whenever I take my camera out, this little lady automatically starts saying cheese, cheese.

It’s so cute!

Have a great afternoon!

Questions of the day:

  • How do you keep yourself on the right track when eating? What motivates you?
  • What’s your biggest splurge? For me it’s sweets. I love them all – cookies, cake, donuts, candy…
  • Did you workout today?

Weigh-In Wednesday

Good morning! I have to start off with the weigh-in for DietBet because I am very excited! Since last Wednesday, I have lost exactly 4 pounds! That means I have lost a total of 5.4 pounds since Danny and I started the DietBet.

The best part is that I am finally below the weight that I was stuck at for four months. My scale hasn’t budged since I finished the Biggest Loser back in September. Now, I am down 5.4 pounds, and I have 15 days to lose .6 of a pound, and I will win my DietBet! I’m very happy if you can’t tell :)

I think the biggest factor is my weight loss has been the weekend eating. I have been a lot better at sticking to healthy eating during the weekends, which is hard sometimes, but it’s worth it when I see the difference that’s it’s made.

Yes, Danny and I went out to dinner last weekend, and ate a lot more than we usually do, but the next day, we were right back on track. I think that shows that one meal isn’t going to ruin your healthy eating and cause you to gain weight. As long as one meal doesn’t turn into overindulging the whole weekend, it usually won’t hurt. Hey, I ate a pizza and cheesecake and still lost 4 pounds!

Yes, Danny, I could hardly believe it either!

On the other hand, what works for me might not work for you. Everyone is different, and loses and gains weight differently. Don’t go out and eat cheesecake saying you’ll lose weight just because I did. But eating healthy and focusing on whole foods and less processed foods can benefit everyone.

Enough about me – Danny also weighed in today. He lost 1.8 pounds this week, and 12 pounds total. Great job, Danny! He is already at his 4% weight loss, so as long as he doesn’t gain any weight he’s good.

It was to be expected that he lost a smaller amount this week since he lost 10 pounds last week, but he is still doing awesome!

The hardest part will be the Superbowl – who doesn’t love snacks and beer at a Superbowl party? (Well, I hate beer, but others enjoy it. Danny) Luckily, the DietBet ends four days after the Superbowl, so even if we have a few snacks, we still have four days before we have to weigh in.

Last Night’s Dinner

Another smoothie!

I have been loving smoothies lately. I’ve jumped on the smoothie bandwagon…too bad I decided to do it in the middle of winter. They make me cold.

Last night’s smoothie included:

  • frozen strawberries
  • frozen blueberries
  • almond milk
  • crushed ice
  • plain Greek yogurt
  • vanilla protein powder
  • chia seeds
  • a little water

I also ate it with about 1/4 cup of cinnamon Cheerios for a little bit of crunch. The smoothie with the Cheerios was 309 calories and 24.7 grams of protein!

Today’s Workout

  • AMT Machine – 15 minutes
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • 1.62 miles, treadmill

My gym got a new treadmill that I really like.

After my workout, I treated myself to a McDonald’s coffee…mostly because I was freezing and the coffee was hot.

I was hungry by the time lunch rolled around today, so I made myself a cheese and veggie quesadilla, brussels sprouts, and a clementine.

Have a great day!

  • Are you doing the DietBet? How are you doing?
  • Beer: Yes or No?
  • Favorite vegetable?
  • Do you have plans for the SuperBowl? Any SuperBowl snack recipes?

The Skinny Rules

Good morning!

I woke up early today and was at the gym by 7am because Danny is taking my brother to the back doctor this morning, so I had to be home by about 8am.

Today’s Workout

  • Elliptical – 30 minutes
  • Treadmill – 20 minutes 1.56 miles, walked and jogged

After the gym, I came home and made breakfast. I had a bagel thin with two egg whites and an ultra thin slice of cheese. I had a clementine on the side.

I am going to try really hard to get back to eating better today.

Speaking of healthy eating, I just finished The Skinny Rules by Bob Harper.

The book really wasn’t too long because half of the book is recipes. I think it had some good points and advice, but it’s pretty much all common sense. Drink more water, don’t drink soda. Cut out sugar, white flour, and potatoes, eat lots of fruits and veggies. Don’t eat food that is processed, eat a protein with every meal. Eat lots of fish, some chicken, and a little red meat.

Here are Bob’s 20 “Skinny Rules”:

  1. Drink a large glass of water before every meal.
  2. Don’t drink your calories.
  3. Eat protein at every meal – or stay hungry and grouchy.
  4. Slash your intake of refined flours and grains.
  5. Eat 30 to 50 grams of fiber a day.
  6. Eat apples and berries every single day.
  7. No carbs after lunch.
  8. Learn to read food labels so you know what you’re eating.
  9. Stop guessing about portion size and get it right.
  10. No more added sweeteners, including artificial ones.
  11. Get rid of those white potatoes.
  12. Make one day a week meatless.
  13. Get rid of fast foods and fried foods.
  14. Eat a real breakfast.
  15. Make your own food and eat at least 10 meals a week at home.
  16. Banish high-salt foods
  17. Eat your vegetables.
  18. Go to bed hungry.
  19. Sleep right.
  20. Plan one splurge meal a week.

I do think that this book is good if you are new to trying to lose weight. It gives good advice about weight loss without any crazy fad diets.

I truly believe that weight loss and being healthy is 90% what you eat. Yes, exercise keeps you healthy and burns calories, but if you’re eating like crap, it’s not going to matter. You need to learn to properly fuel your body. And I will be the first to admit, that I don’t always eat healthy – I have a giant sweet tooth, but I try to find a healthy balance between eating healthy with treats in moderation.

Some of the rules I really stick by are drinking water. Water keeps your hydrated and flushes toxins out of your body, and sometimes people mistake hunger for thirst. Eating protein at every meal. Protein helps you feel fuller longer and helps rebuild muscles after a workout. Not eating carbs after lunchtime. When I lost weight, it was because I cut out carbs after about 3 pm. I don’t agree with a low-carb diet, your body needs carbs, but if you limit them at night, you will lose a lot more weight. Eat a lean protein and a veggie for dinner. Easy, low in carbs, and still tasty.

In the new year, Danny and I have plans to eat healthier and lose weight. I only want to lose the pounds that I have gained lately (just a few) and focus on eating healthier again. Danny would like to learn how to eat healthy. He’s one of those people who can pretty much eat anything and not gain weight. But lately, his metabolism is catching up with him, and it doesn’t help that he sits behind a desk 8 hours a day.

So, I have a few things that we plan on doing in the new year that I’ll share later.

Back to The Skinny Rules book…Bob recommends that men eat 1500 calories a day and women eat 1200 calories a day because they have a harder time losing weight than men. I like to stick to about 1500 calories a day because I work out for an hour+ a day.

One thing I noticed in the book is that Bob mentions that any sweetener is pretty much a no-no. He says to cut out artificial sweeteners including Splenda, Equal, and stevia. Not to eat any high fructose corn syrup, and if honey, agave, or any sweetener appears in the first five ingredients on a food label, you should avoid it. Yet, a bunch of recipes at the end of the book include agave as an ingredient. So, I was a little confused by that.

Bottom line, if you want to eat healthy and lose weight, eat real food, not junk. Drink water, not soda. And eat normal portion sizes.

Questions of the day:

  • Have you read The Skinny Rules by Bob Harper?
  • How do you eat healthy?
  • What’s your biggest indulgence?
  • Any workout today?

Grilled Veggie Wraps and Weight Loss Progress

Yesterday’s Dinner

Last night for dinner, I made grilled veggie wraps.

Using a grill pan on the stove, I grilled red and green peppers, red onions, carrots, and zucchini with a little bit of olive oil.

I used a multigrain tortilla spread with a bit of garlic hummus. I added my veggies on top and rolled it up. It ended up being too many veggies for one tortilla, so I used another one. Each tortilla is only 60 calories, so it didn’t really break the calorie bank.

Delicious! Next time, I think I’ll add a bit of feta cheese.

After dinner, we decided to hit up Yogli Mogli for some frozen yogurt.

I am back on track with healthy eating, so I made sure that fro-yo fit into my daily calorie count. I don’t think it’s “bad” to have a treat everyday, I just make sure that I’m not going over my calories by having a treat.

I usually estimate the calories in my fro-yo because I’m still not sure how to figure out the calorie count of the toppings – ummm…a spoonful of chocolate chips, a dash of graham cracker crumbs, strawberry slices, boba balls, three cheesecake bites, and a squirt of chocolate sauce. (my fro-yo toppings are all over the place).

Today’s Workout

  • BodyPump
  • 1.25 miles walk outside with the kids (aka – a slow walk)

I didn’t go to BodyPump on Monday, so it was nice to get back to it today. Oh, and I forgot to mention that Danny was soooo sore from going to BodyPump on Friday. He could hardly walk all weekend. It was slightly humorous to watch him so up the stairs. But I feel his pain, so I only laughed in my head.

Today’s Breakfast

Weight Loss

I thought that I would share a before and after pic of my weight loss so far.

Not the best pictures, but you get the idea.

I will take my next picture at the final weigh-in of the Biggest Loser in September.

Questions of the day:

  • What’s your favorite way to eat veggies?
  • Do you like hummus?
  • Any big plans for the day?

Eggs in a Pepper

Yesterday’s Workout and Weigh-In

  • 3.25 miles treadmill (1 minute walk/1 minute fast run)
  • Biggest Loser Circuit Workout – 60 minutes

I was really dreading the weigh-in yesterday because I know that I didn’t eat very well over the weekend and gained a little bit of weight. (It sucks that it takes me two weeks to lose a pound but only two days to gain it.)

I ended up losing 5.2 pounds since the last weigh-in. I am happy with that, although I knew it could have been higher. I plan on trying my hardest between now and the next weigh-in. So far since starting the Biggest Loser program, I have lost 12 pounds. Since I started my weight loss journey in March, I have lost 28 pounds.

We also had our body fat tested yesterday, and my body fat dropped down to 23%, so I was pretty happy about that.

Today’s Workout

  • Butts and Guts Class – 60 minutes

I got the new issue of Fitness magazine over the weekend, and while I was flipping though it. I found the most amazing idea – eggs in a pepper ring! So delicious, yet so easy and simple. Why have I not thought of this before?!

Luckily, I happened to have eggs, red and green peppers, and onions on hand, so I decided to combine them to make an eggs in a pepper breakfast.

I simply cut thick rings from the peppers and laid them in a pan. Then, I added one egg white per pepper, threw in a few chopped red onions, and sprinkled a little bit of pepper on top. I cooked them for a few minutes and then flipped them over to cook the other side.

I rounded out my breakfast by adding a clementine and blueberries on the side.

In completely totally unrelated news, did you hear that Hasbro is bringing back the Furby for 2012?!

Furbies were the hot toy when I was young, and I actually got kind of excited that they were bringing them back…until I saw the price tag. $54!

$54 for a Furby?! That’s just crazy. You could pay $54, or you could do what I did and go to Goodwill, buy a Furby for $2.99, and save yourself $51.01.

Questions of the day:

  • What you your favorite toy as a kid?
  • What’s your favorite way to eat eggs?
  • Have you ever had your body fat measured?
