Working, Food, and Indoor SkyDiving

Good afternoon!

I started working at the fitness desk at the gym this week so my schedule has been quite different. I’ll train at work three days this week and then go to my normal schedule of two days next week.


Working three mornings this week means I missed my morning workouts! It’s weird going to the gym when I normally workout but to be working instead. Luckily, I am still able to fit in a quick workout when I get off of work and still be home in time for my kids to get home.

I was really happy to get my normal workout in this morning. I started out with a 10 minute warm-up on the bike, followed by the Bikini Body Mommy workout, an ab circuit that I repeated twice, the BBM workout again, 10 minutes on the Arc trainer and finished up with a few minutes of stretching and foam rolling.

Gym hair = Crazy hair.


Whew! It was a good workout. I have so much more energy in the mornings than I do in the afternoon.

We didn’t have much food early in the week since we never went grocery shopping due to the wonderful Chicago blizzard so I had to get creative with what we had. I actually made lunch and a snack with the few groceries that we had that turned out pretty good.

First, I made a healthy veggie and chicken fried rice.


I used leftover baked chicken and whatever veggies I could find. I cooked the veggies – carrots, green and red pepper, and onion on the stovetop with a little bit of garlic. Then I added the already cooked chicken and a cup of cooked Uncle Ben’s brown rice. I cracked two egg whites in the middle and scrambled those up. I added a little bit a lite soy sauce and a delicious lunch was created!


I also had to get creative with my afternoon snack. I usually eat cottage cheese, apple slices, and cinnamon (I promise it’s good) but sadly I had none of those things on hand.

Instead I found a plain Greek yogurt and mixed in one tablespoon of peanut butter and added half a tablespoon on chocolate chips. This would be delicious as a dip for apples but since I didn’t have any apples, I crumbled half a graham cracker on top. It was delicious.


I’m so used to always eating the same things and not having groceries actually made be think outside my little food comfort zone.

After the gym this morning, I stopped at Costco to get a couple of things for Jaden’s birthday party we’re having this weekend. I also got his birthday present!


For his birthday, we wants to do the indoor skydiving which actually looks really cool. Normally it’s about $70 but Costco sells the gift cards for $40. Awesome!

Jaden tried talking Jacob into doing it with him but Jacob didn’t want to. Jaden’s more of my risk taker whereas Jacob prefers to keep¬†both feet on the ground. :)

Weigh-In Wednesday…One Day to Go

It’s that time again – weigh-in Wednesday!

I’ll admit that I was very nervous about stepping on the scale this morning, especially because of the Super Bowl and my one pound weight gain last week, but…

I lost 2.2 pounds this week! That’s a total weight loss of exactly 6 pounds since Danny and I started the¬†Diet Bet¬†four weeks ago.

That means I lost 4% of my body weight and will win the Diet Bet! However, the Diet Bet doesn’t end until tomorrow, not today, like I thought. As long as I don’t gain a pound overnight, I’ll be good.

I am very excited that I hit my 4%. I honestly wasn’t sure if I’d make it. And I still have a day left, so fingers crossed…

Danny did great this week. He lost 2.8 pounds for a total weight loss of 16.2 pounds! Great job, Danny!

Danny’s strategy these last few days has been to run like crazy on the treadmill…mine has been to drink a crap load of water. I guess both strategies worked.

Drinking a lot of water is a great way to aid in weight loss. It revs your metabolism, helps you feel full, cleans the toxins out of your body, and keeps you hydrated. I 100% believe that drinking a lot of water has helped me lose the weight. You should drink at least half of your body weight in ounces in water a day.

I don’t measure my water, but I know that I drink probably more than that. I use this cup everyday and drink from it all day long.


Breakfast this morning was half of a grapefruit and the new passion fruit clementine Fage yogurt.

The yogurt was okay. I’m not¬†a huge passion fruit fan, but it was very flavorful. I didn’t taste the clementine at all, just the passion fruit.

Half of a grapefruit and a yogurt might seem like a small breakfast, but I usually eat when I wake up before I work out, and then I eat again right after I workout – kind of like two mini breakfasts instead of one big breakfast. Post workout was my normal snack today:

Today’s Workout

  • Elliptical – 14 minutes
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • 1.33 miles treadmill, walked

My abs are super sore today from yesterday’s Butt and Guts class. My abs rarely ever get sore. I don’t know if I have weaker ab muscles from having two babies or what, but even if I do a lot of crunches they don’t often get sore. So maybe this is a good thing.

Crunchmaster Snacks…and a Giveaway!

Even though the cinnamon and sugar grammy crisps are geared towards kids, they were the ones that I was most looking forward to trying (it must be my sweet tooth!)

They were the perfect blend of crunchiness and sweetness. The kids loved them too!

They also liked the cheesy crisps which have only 120 calories for 60 crackers! A great snack for kids and adults.

Thanks for Nothing, DMV


Yesterday afternoon, we headed out to the DMV to renew my driver’s license. I checked what time they closed, and we made sure to leave in plenty of time to get there. When we pulled into the parking lot, I saw this sign:

<Insert swear word here> You’ve got to be kidding me?! I checked the times, but I didn’t bother to check the days they were open. So, now we’ll have to go on Saturday anyway.

We had my niece with us, and we were going to drop her off at home because my brother and sister-in-law live out towards the DMV, but they weren’t home yet. My mom, who lives in the same area, wasn’t home yet either. So, we did the next best thing. We took the baby to the library and put her on top of the world.

We spent some time at the library, letting the kids play, and looking at recipe books.

Then we headed to my mom’s house, where I was starving and ate my body weight in tortilla chips. Damn. This has been a bad eating week for me. My brother and sister-in-law got home, and we decided to go to Noodles and Company for dinner.

I opted for the Med salad since I ate so many tortilla chips. I also gave Danny a lot of that feta cheese on top of the salad.

I actually was really surprised that I ordered a salad at Noodles and Company because I love their pasta dishes. But I ate so many tortilla chips and didn’t want to have a heavy dinner. I know that I ate a lot over the weekend, and I am really nervous that I am going to gain weight at my weigh-in on Thursday. Blah.

Also yesterday, I received¬†the¬†bondiband that I won from Ali at Running With Spatulas.¬†I love that it says I love Zumba. I think I’ll wear it to BodyPump.

Today’s Workout

  • Butts and Guts Class

This morning, I went to the Butts and Guts class at my gym. I love that this class is different every week. The instructor always comes up with different stuff to keep the class interesting. Today we used a step to really work our glutes.

After my workout, I came home and made a snack. Apples with a little bit of lemon juice and cinnamon, with cottage cheese on the side.

The weather is beautiful outside today, so I think after lunch, I am going to take the kids to the park. I am also going to try to get a short run in tonight when Danny gets home. And poor Lawrence the caterpillar died during a really bad rain storm even though I made sure to bring him inside, so I have to work on finding a new caterpillar.
