Albion Fit Workout Clothes Giveway!

It is snowing here in Chicagoland…again. I am so sick of the snow and am ready for nice weather!

Luckily, Albion sent me the Go Long Crew with Thumb Holes shirt in fuchsia to try out – long sleeves to keep warm! I love that this shirt is actually long. I have a long torso, so I have a hard time finding shirts that are long enough, but this one fits the bill :)

I also am a sucker for thumb holes. I mean, who doesn’t love thumb holes!

I like the crew neck on the shirt – it can be worn alone or layered with a tank underneath. I love the fact that although it’s a workout shirt, it could also double as a regular shirt. It would be great for going from the gym and then out to run a few errands and such. I can see myself wearing it over my gym tanks for going to and from the gym.

The Go Long Crew is a silky and lightweight spandex blend, perfect for working out in. I ordered mine is a size medium.

If the weather stays like this, it’ll be the perfect shirt to wear to the Egg Shuffle 5k coming up soon!

Shopping for Furniture

Good afternoon! How are you all doing with the time change? It always takes me a while to get used to it, but I’m happy that it will stay light out longer.


Yesterday afternoon, my mom watched the kids for a while so Danny and I could go out and look for bedroom furniture. We’re trying to find a whole new bedroom set, and so far I haven’t found anything that I loved.

We looked at a lot of complete bedroom sets, but I don’t know if I like all the matchy matchy sets. I love this bedroom that I found on Pinterest:


So far, I can’t find exactly what I want so, the search continues! If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them.

While we were out, we stopped at Whole Foods for lunch and some more carrot cake Clif bars.


The plank-a-day challenge is going great. Danny and I are improving each day. Yesterday was day #10. Danny’s plank was 1 minute and 55 seconds.

My plank was 2 minutes and 50 seconds.

I used Marlene’s trick and listened to music while doing my plank. I think it really worked because I lasted 5 seconds longer than the day before!

Today’s Workout

  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • Plank Day #11 – 2 minutes 51 seconds
  • 2.1 miles treadmill, walked/jogged

I did the plank after BodyPump today so it was really hard. I made it one second longer than yesterday and that was a struggle. My whole body was shaking after a minute, but the music really helps.


I had a small protein fruit smoothie this morning.

In my smoothie:

  • 1/2 cup frozen peaches
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 scoop white chocolate Designer Whey protein powder
  • 3 ounces Trop50 orange juice

Total Calories: 130     Total Protein: 9.4 grams

Cookie Dough Bowl: Failure or Success?

The other day I was browsing  Pinterest – that site can keep me busy forever – and I came across the idea of making cookie dough bowls by flipping over a muffin pan and forming the cookie dough to it to create a bowl.

Yeah, easier than it sounds.

I thought that it would be a great idea for the kids. After you make the cookie dough bowls, you fill them with ice cream and eat them up.

I decided to go Semi-Homemade with Heather Lee and use store-bought Pillsbury cookie dough. (Funny because that really is my middle name).  It started out really good – the kids had tons of fun smashing cookie dough all over the upside muffin tin to form bowls. I put non-stick foil on the muffin pan so the cookie bowls would pull off easily.

I think we ended up using too much cookie dough because after about five minutes of being in the oven, my smoke alarm started going off and my kitchen filled with smoke. I opened the oven and it turns out that all the cookie dough expanded and began dripping off of the muffin pan, all over the bottom of the oven.

I opened the windows and cleared the smoke out, and pretty much chalked the experience up to a pinterest failure.

But when I opened the oven again, I realized that the cookie bowls weren’t actually ruined, they were just really big, so I cooked them five more minutes.

I let them cool, and peeled them off the foil. The kids didn’t care what they looked like, they just cared that they tasted delicious. So what if they were a funky shape – that just meant more cookie! I tasted a few bites, and they tasted fine, so I filled them up with cookie dough ice cream for the kids,and they loved them.

So, what started out as a cookie bowl failure actually turned into a cookie bowl success. The only problem now is that I have extra cookie dough left in my fridge….
