Ruffles With Love Workout Tank

Good afternoon! I hope everyone is having a great Friday!

Ruffles With Love

Yesterday, I got the cutest workout shirt that I have ever owned in the mail.

How adorable is that shirt?! So perfect for BodyPump. I am in love with it. I am also a huge fan of bows :)

I really believe that how you dress to workout can affect your mood and workout. If you feel good about what your working out in, then you feel more confident in yourself. It’s about being comfortable and happy with yourself.

I’m not someone who does my hair and makeup when I workout, but I can see why some women do – it just makes them feel better about themselves. I do however, love cute workout clothes.

This tank is from Ruffles with Love.

The Ruffles with Love website has so many cute workout clothes – they have tanks, long sleeves, create your own shirts, sweatshirts, men’s shirt, and more. They even have a bridal line.

About the tank I received:

65% polyester/35% viscose 30 singles 3.7 ounce jersey knit tank top. Marble fabric is 91% polyester/9% combed and ring-spun cotton, 3.5 ounce. Loose flowing fit that hangs beautifully. A-line body with shearing at racerback seam completes this feminine style.

I got my shirt in a size medium and they fit pretty much true to size. The shirt feels like a quality made shirt that is going to hold up through lots of sweat sessions at the gym. The bow is also removable if you don’t want to wear it or to wash it.

If your looking for a new cute workout shirt, definitely check out the Ruffles with Love website. You can also check them out on Twitter, Facebook, instagram, and Pinterest.

MRI Results

I didn’t post about my MRI results yesterday because I was having one of those days when I wanted to feel sorry for myself and wallow in my sadness. The MRI news wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t good either.

Basically, I have a small abnormality on my hip bone in the form of a tiny bump. This tiny bump is causing little tears in my labrum which is why I am having so much pain. My bone is just slightly misshaped. I never really had a problem with it until I started training for a half marathon and completing a 15K. I think the increase in training and running is what started to cause the tears, which aren’t healing.

So, the next step at this point is to get a shot of cortisone directly into my hip joint, in hopes that it will reduce inflammation therefore reducing my constant pain. The downside is that the shot may not work and either way, I have to take it easy for at least two weeks afterwards – which means no BodyPump.

I just feel like this is happening at such a bad time. I finally got my own class and now I can’t even teach it for a couple of weeks which then messes things up for other people who have to cover for me. It makes me feel bad.

And who knows about activity for the future – it all depends on the relief the shot provides and which activities will continue to cause me pain. So for right now, I just have to wait until I get the cortisone shot and then see how things go from there. I have an appointment next Tuesday to get the shot.

Today’s Workout:

  • Practiced BodyPump at home – 45 minutes
  • Taught BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • Plank Day#6 – 1:07   Plank Day #8 – 1:08

I always get super nervous before I have to teach a class especially when I haven’t taught in a few weeks, and this was my first time teaching the new release. I woke up early to practice at home a little bit.

Right after BodyPump, I worked for an hour, and then I went to Mariano’s where I made myself a salad and some fruit for lunch.

Tomorrow, Danny and I are celebrating Valentine’s Day early at Cooper’s Hawk. Jaden’s birthday is two days before Valentine’s day so that weekend is always filled with fun birthday stuff!

Have a great weekend!

Arthrogram MRI

Arthrogram MRI

Yesterday, I went to the hospital for an arthrogram MRI of my hip. I was extremely nervous because I wasn’t sure what to expect…and I hate needles.

I have had a regular MRI before, but never one where dye is injected into my body.

Danny took half a day off of work because I wasn’t allowed to drive myself home after the MRI. We got to the hospital about 1:40pm and I filled out the paperwork. After about a half hour they took my back to prep for the MRI.

I had to remove all clothes from the waist down and put on a hospital gown. I was getting really nervous at this point. The nurse explained how the procedure would work and at this point, Danny left to go home and get the kids off the bus.

I laid on the table and the doctor injected a shot of Novocain into my hip joint with the help of an x-ray machine. Then, the dye was injected into my hip joint. The whole process hurt and stung a little but it was mostly uncomfortable. It was a better than I expected in to be.

The doctor and nurses were very nice and knew how scared I was. The doctor talked to me during the shots so I would be distracted. After the shots, I was wheeled over to the MRI department. I was able to put my clothes back on since I wore yoga pants and they didn’t have any metal.

I was put into the MRI tube and the whole test took about an hour. I was okay for the first half, but during the second half of the MRI, I was extremely uncomfortable and my leg really started to bother me. I was trying to stay still but it was hard and the nurse kept telling me to stay still.

When I was done, I was so happy to be out of that MRI machine. I kind of half fell asleep at times, but that machine is so loud that you can’t actually fall asleep. At least I couldn’t.

After the MRI, I had to wait about 20 minutes for a copy of the disc to bring to the doctor on Thursday. Danny and the kids were there to pick me up and we left the hospital about 4:40 pm.

My leg was pretty sore all last day but it feels a little better this morning. They said no heavy lifting for 24 hours, so I figured I was fine to go to the gym as long as I didn’t take BodyPump.

Today’s Workout

  • Cardio Fusion class – 60 minutes
  • Yesterday’s Plank: 1:01
  • Today’s Plank:

(Instagram)

I went to cardio fusion class this morning and tried to take it easy on the stuff that would bother my hip, like jumping. I still burned a good amount of calories.

After my workout, I had a cup of coffee and a chocolate chip brownie Larabar. I have never had this flavor before so when I saw it at the store, I had to try it.

So good!

Tomorrow morning I have a doctor appointment to go over the results of the MRI.

Random Snapple fact of the day:

Have a great afternoon!

Egg Frittata Muffins

Good afternoon!

After having the weekend off and two snow days, the kids are back in school today.

Since school was canceled yet again yesterday so I had to take the kids with me to my appointment at the sports doctor.

Thank goodness for iPads:

The doctor said that it probably isn’t normal that my hip, quad, and glute still hurt after 6+ months and three months of physical therapy, so he said that I should get an arthrogram MRI of my hip. This type of MRI injects dye into my hip and joints so they doctor can get a better look at what’s going on.

He thinks I could possibly have femoroacetabular impingement of the hip, which basically means that my hip bone may be abnormally shaped. I really won’t know anything until I have the MRI next week.

I am a little nervous about it but I just really want to figure out what’s going on.

Breakfast

Our mornings are usually really busy, so I usually eat something quick and easy for breakfast, like cereal. This morning, I woke up a lot earlier than usually so I took advantage of the time and cooked mini egg frittatas for breakfast.

I saw the recipe on The Biggest Loser the other week, so I thought I’d try it out at home. It was really simple and they turned out delicious!

The best part is that you can make them however you like and the possibilities are endless: egg whites, whole eggs, veggies, bacon, sausage, cheese, etc.

For my mini egg frittatas I used:

  • 4 egg whites
  • green pepper
  • red pepper
  • red onion
  • spinach
  • mozzeralla cheese

I mixed up four egg whites in a bowl with salt and pepper. I sautéed the veggies with a little bit of olive oil on the stove.

Then, I poured the egg whites into two muffins tins sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. I added the sautéed veggies and topped them with a tiny bit of cheese.

I baked them at 350 for 20 minutes in the oven and they came out perfect! I only made two, but it would be great to make a big batch of these to freeze and heat up in the morning!

Each mini egg frittata muffin had approximately 64 calories. I ate two of them with blueberries and raspberries.

Today’s Workout

  • Practiced Body Pump at home – 20 minutes
  • Cardio Fusion Class – 60 minutes

Since school is back in session, I was able to go to the gym this morning. I took the cardio fusion class, but tried to take it easy on my hip.

Lunch

Lunch today was some more English muffin hummus melts with some fruit and veggies.

Have a great afternoon!

Good News/Bad News

Good News: I do not have a stress fracture in my hip!

Bad News: I do have hip bursitis and ligament irritation (whatever that means).

Good News: I think I’m okay to run the half marathon in August.

Bad News: I am not even close to ready to run this half marathon. Not at all. I haven’t ran at all in over a week. My longest run in two and a half weeks has been 5 miles and my longest run before that was a  random 8 miles.

The sports doctor called on Friday and left me a voicemail. She said that my MRI results didn’t show a stress fracture but did show some ligament irritation, but I was fine to exercise. However, she didn’t specify what I could actually do. Can I run? Can I only walk? Can I take BodyPump and do 200 squats?

Right now, my hip still hurts and I am afraid to do anything to make the pain worse. What it I workout and I tear the ligament? Then I’ll be in even worse shape. So right now I am still taking it a little easy until I talk to her. I might try a walk later today and I’m going call and schedule physical therapy tomorrow.

I am so nervous about the half marathon. How can I run it with almost no training?! Yesterday was supposed to be my last long run of 10-12 miles followed by a week of tapering and then the half marathon. Instead, I haven’t ran at all. I think there will be a lot of walking going on – I cannot get injured worse right now.

And honestly, my health and not being injured is way more important to me than crossing that finish line. But at the same time, this is one of the big things that I want to accomplish in life. Running has always been a struggle for me and this would be the ultimate goal. We shall see!!

Good News: Danny and Jacob got home yesterday after being gone for a week fishing in Canada!

Bad News: There’s a lot of laundry to do.

Danny and Jacob went fishing with my grandpa, dad, and brother all last week. So, it was just me, Jaden, and my niece. It was a loooonnnngg week. Sometimes, when you’re apart from your significant other, it makes you appreciate them more.

Danny and I have a pretty good system worked out of what we both do around the house that works perfect for us. We both contribute in our own ways. Then when one person is gone, and you take on the work of two people, you appreciate that other person more.

But they’re home now!! And I’m happy.

Jacob loved fishing but he hated touching the fish. I love this picture of him and my grandpa.

Four generations (plus Danny – ha ha :) )

Good News: In celebration of their return, I made three cheese stuffed shells and garlic bread for dinner last night.

Bad News: I ate a lot of it. Especially the garlic bread. Yum!

Have a great Sunday!!

MRI

Good afternoon!

I’m back – yesterday was one of those days when everything that could go wrong did go wrong.

First off, my hip pain has come back in full force. The pain makes it difficult to sleep, sit, and drive. I talked to the sports doctor and she’s worried that it might be a stress fracture, so she wanted me to get an MRI. More on my thoughts on that later, right now I am just waiting on the results.

Luckily, they were able to get me an appointment yesterday afternoon, but not so lucky was that it was an hour away and I needed someone to watch the kids. My stepmom saved the day. She came over to watch the kids while I went to get an MRI.

It was my first MRI and everything seemed to go fine. It took about a half hour, but the driving took me over two hours. Not fun. They said it should take a couple of days before I hear anything, so I am hoping to hear something by Monday.

I didn’t work out yesterday or today. Right now, I think it’s best just to give my body a break. I think upper body workouts are okay and maybe I’ll do one tomorrow, but right now I’m taking it easy.

Breakfast

For breakfast this morning, I made a smoothie. My smoothies are usually really simple - some fruit, a Greek yogurt for protein, and a little OJ or almond milk.

Today, my smoothie had orange cream Greek yogurt, OJ, raspberries, strawberries, and peaches.

Since I didn’t go to the gym this morning, I was a nice mom and took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese. Most people don’t realize that Chuck E. Cheese opens at 9am, and if you go early, you can avoid the crowds.

I hate crowds and I really hate crowds at Chuck E. Cheese. Jaden won the 50 ticket jackpot on one of the games and apparently he was so happy that he just threw himself onto the floor in sheer joy. (Don’t worry, he will be getting a bath later.)

My niece rode the horse 27 times in a row.

Jaden used his tickets to get a giant balloon. Seriously?! I was lucky enough to get it to fit into the trunk of the car.

After Chuck E. Cheese, we stopped at Mariano’s grocery store and I made a salad for lunch.

My salad included romaine lettuce, red onions, cucumbers, green pepper, carrots, artichoke hearts, chickpeas, a few noodles, and crab.

I also got a few chocolate and peanut butter covered pretzels which I ate on the way home :)

Those peanut butter covered pretzels are delicious.

Later this afternoon, I’m going to my mom’s house to visit for awhile!

Have a great afternoon?
