Bingo and Dates

Happy Monday!

Last night, we ordered pizza, baked cookies, and decorated our Christmas tree.

I also found a cute idea on Pinterest for the kids – making Christmas trees out of green frosting and sugar cones.

I bought the white Frosting Creations frosting and added a package of mint chocolate powder to make it green. You could also use vanilla frosting and green food coloring, but I didn’t have any food coloring.

The kids loved making their frosting Christmas trees and it got a little messy, but they had so much fun!

I ate a lot last night – pizza, cookies, popcorn. So, when I woke up this morning, I wasn’t feeling very hungry. I noticed that when I eat a lot over the weekends, I usually wake up Monday morning not wanting to eat anything.

So, I skipped breakfast before heading to the gym. I regretted not eating at least something small for breakfast because halfway through BodyPump, my stomach started to growl loudly.

Luckily, I knew I’d be hungry and I packed a mini breakfast to eat after BodyPump:

Greek yogurt and thinkThin bar.

Today’s Workout

  • 1.12 miles treadmill
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes

Fitness Bingo

Guess what?! I won fitness bingo! Yay!

My happy face:

From what I understand, it turns out that whoever turned in the most bingo cards won the final prize – it wasn’t done by a raffle. So, I really glad that I worked hard to turn those final three bingo cards in last week.

I was able to choose from a free annual membership or a three-month My Choice membership. The annual membership included use of the fitness center only, so it made more sense for me to choose the three-month My Choice membership because it includes use of the fitness center, fitness classes, and the kid’s room. So, I’ll be saving about $150. :)

Danny and I still plan on signing up for the Fitness Fantasy League in January. That prize is a whole year MyChoice membership!

Date Night

Danny and I had such a nice and relaxing time on our date night on Saturday that we decided that we would have a monthly date night and would take turns coming up with something to do.

Having a date night doesn’t always mean spending a lot of money. Just as long as your together, it doesn’t matter what you do. Getting coffee or going for a walk make great dates that are cheap or free.

Having alone time not only helps your relationship by spending time with your significant other, but it helps you be a better parent too –  as any stay at home mom will tell you (or even the ones that work full-time)! Sometimes you just need to step back from the craziness of work, life, family, and kids and spend some quality time with your significant other. It almost recharges you. The same can be said with spending time alone too. We often get so wrapped up in life that we lose sight of the important things in life.

Danny and I realized that we don’t actually spend much time alone together – just the two of us. Sure, we do a lot of stuff with my family, but that hardly counts as quality time with each other. So, I am very excited to start our monthly date nights and better our relationship. :)

I also think that spending time alone with your children separately is a great idea too – like a “daddy and me” night or a “mommy and me” night. Danny and I also have plans to do this with Jacob and Jaden once a month.

Questions of the day:

  • How often do you have date nights with your significant other? Do you believe that they help better your relationship?
  • What was the last “date” that you went on?
  • Are you a breakfast eater? Or are you not hungry in the mornings?

Mezamashii Run Project

Happy December! There’s only 30 more days left in the year! What are you going to do with them?

Yesterday

I got a pretty exciting package in the mail yesterday.

A brand new free pair of Mizuno Inspire 9 shoes!

Mizuno started something called the Mezamashii Run Project.

From thier website:

In Japanese, the word mezamashii means “brilliant.”

That is the feeling Mizuno is on a quest to deliver more of —a euphoric, wind-in-your-heart run. A brilliant run.

So instead of spending millions of dollars on advertising to talk about our shoes,Mizuno is giving away thousands of free pairs to runners like yourself so they can experience more mezamashii.

I was recently accepted into the Mezamashii Run Project and received a free pair of Mizuno shoes. I love the idea of giving out shoes for people to try instead of spending that money on advertising.

I selected the Mizuno Inspire 9s which were just released in November. They are lightweight, but still offer support, which I need. I’ll let you know how they work when I run in them!

Fitness Bingo

Bingo is officially over! I turned in my third (and final) bingo card of the week yesterday. They pick a winner for free gym membership on Monday. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Next, I’m signing up for the Fantasy Fitness League in January.

This morning, we’re off to Jaden’s allergy appointment. Have a great day!

Questions of the day:

  • What kind of shoes do you run/exercise in?
  • Does your gym offer any kind of fitness promotions?
  • Any plans for today?

Babies, Movies, and Earmuffs

Yesterday

Late yesterday morning, we went to my in-law’s house to visit my nephew. Danny’s parents were watching him for the day, and since they live so close to us, we just had to go and see the baby.

The boys:

Isn’t he such a cutie?! I just love babies.

If you were expecting to see me in something besides Victoria’s Secret sweatpants, then you were sadly mistaken. Sad, but true.

After visiting with my in-laws and nephew, we took the kids to see Wreck it Ralph at the mall movie theater.

I liked it and thought it was a really cute movie. I liked it better than Hotel Transylvania. The kids loved it too.

After the movie, we ordered new glasses for Jacob and shopped around a bit. I found these adorable ear muffs that I feel in love with. I mean how can you not love leopard print earmuffs with a little bow?! When I showed them to Danny, I think he thought I was joking about actually buying them.

Nope, I wasn’t. I am now a proud owner of an awesome pair of earmuffs.

I wore them to take Jaden to the bus stop, and one of the third-grade boys said wow, those are nice ear muffs. If a third-grade boy approves of your earmuffs then you know they must be awesome.

I don’t like hats or headband ear warmers, so earmuffs it is!

Today’s Workout

  • 1.5 miles treadmill
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes

Total Pile on the Miles: 8.63 miles

I’m still going strong with fitness bingo at my gym. I am currently in first place with 12 bingo cards. Not that it really matters that I’m in first place because all the prizes are done by a raffle.

I haven’t won a weekly prize yet, which is fine with me because all I care about is the final prize. I’m hoping that karma will see that I haven’t won a weekly prize and let me win the gym membership prize.

But if I don’t win, my gym is doing another cool fitness challenge in January where the winner is based on who works out the most, not a raffle.

I hope everyone has a great Monday!

Questions of the day:

  • Do you have nieces and nephews Do you see them often?
  • What’s the last movie you saw? We rented Snow White and the Huntsman this weekend, and I thought it was okay. I felt like the ending kind of dragged on and on.
  • Earmuffs, hat, or headband?

Pumpkin Apple Oatmeal and Fun Stuff at the Gym

Yesterday’s Workout

  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • 3 miles, outside

Breakfast

Breakfast this morning was hot oatmeal. I used Quaker oats and made pumpkin apple oatmeal.

I added the apples in with the water for the oatmeal so they would be cooked and have a softer texture.

For my oatmeal, I used:

  • 1/3 cup Quaker old-fashioned oats
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 2 oz apple, diced
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin
  • dash of pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon
  • 1 tsp lite syrup

Once the water was boiling, I added all the ingredients and let it cook for about five minutes. It was the perfect hot breakfast on a chilly morning.

Today’s Workout

  • Elliptical – 20 min.
  • Butts and Guts class – 60 min.

At the gym this morning, I signed up for fitness bingo.

Starting in October, every time you workout, you get a stamp. Once you get a Bingo (four stamps in row) you get to turn your card into a drawing for a prize. Should be fun!

I also signed up for Spin class. Most of the classes at my gym are included in the membership price, but there’s a couple, like Spin class, that are a separate fee. I wanted to try something different and I know Spin is challenging so I decided to sign up. Since I’m already a gym member, it was only $16.

So, on Monday nights, Danny is going to have to meet me at the gym to pick up the kids because Spin starts at 5:30 pm, which is when he is normally getting home.

And I also signed up for one more thing – a free preview of a new class that my gym will be offering – H.I.I.T. (high intensity interval training). It’s a new 30 minute class that it also a separate fee. Luckily, they offer a free preview class so you can decide if it’s something you would want to sign up for. The Biggest Loser might be over, but fitness is forever!!! :)

Moving on….

I am a huge Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling fan. Like as in I dressed my kids up like Harry Potter and took them out to the store at midnight to get new copies of the Harry Potter books when they were released.

For the record, Jacob won the Harry Potter contest and we got a copy of the book for free.

Anyway, I just found out that J.K. Rowling wrote her first novel for adults, which comes out Thursday.

About the book:

When Barry Fairbrother dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town
of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a
cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty
façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their
parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils….
Pagford is not what it first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the
town’s council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet
seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and
unexpected revelations? Blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly
surprising, The Casual Vacancy is J.K. Rowling’s first
novel for adults.

I can’t wait to read it!

Questions of the day:

  • Are you a Harry Potter fan? I started reading Harry Potter over 12 years ago and I have loved it ever since.
  • Did you work out today? Do you belong to a gym?
