FRS + A Giveaway

  • The following post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of FRS.

Good afternoon!

Even though I’m still injured, I have been slowly adding more exercise into my routine and this includes a lot of BodyPump training, which means that I really need to stay hydrated. I am excited to be trying out a great product that’s a nice change from water, keeps me hydrated, has lots of benefits, and tastes good.

First off, what is FRS? FRS is a energy and endurance product, and the story behind FRS is very interesting – FRS was originally developed by health scientists who found that it is an effective way to deliver sustained energy for chemotherapy patients.

Today, FRS is used by the general population including athletes, nutritionists, and anyone who leads an active lifestyle.

Some of the world’s most elite athletes use FRS for it’s great benefits – pro quarterback Tim Tebow and captain of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team Christie Rampone, as well as over 20 professional sports teams.

The great thing about FRS is that it delivers sustained energy, endurance, and provides immune system support. So, it’s not just for professional athletes, everyone can benefit from FRS products. And it’s available in different products – FRS makes drinks, powders, concentrates, and chews.

FRS Facts:

  • Fueled by Nature Endorsed by Science
  • Packed with healthy antioxidants, vitamins, and green tea extract
  • Features the powerful antioxidant quercetin which is found in the skin of blueberries, grapes, and apples (Quercetin has been shown to provide sustained energy, increased endurance, and immune system support in multiple clinical trials)
  • Contain the highest level and purity of quercetin available
  • Works at the cellular level to help your body produce it’s own natural energy
  • 100% RDI of seven essential vitamins

FRS is that it’s available at many different stores – GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, Kroeger, Whole Foods, Rite Aid, Meijer, Walgreen’s, Teeter Harris, and FRS.com. I’ve actually picked up FRS energy chews from my local Meijer in the past.

The first thing that I noticed about the FRS drinks was that there was a low-cal option. I am the kind of person that rather save my calories for food rather than drinks so I loved that there was a low-cal version of the drink.

I also noticed the wide variety of drink flavors – orange, apricot nectarine, low-cal orange, low-cal wild berry, low-cal peach mango, low-cal citrus pomegranate.

Whenever I see peach mango or orange mango flavored drink that’s always the first one that I grab.

I tired out the low-cal peach mango FRS drink while I was practicing my BodyPump tracks for my upcoming BodyPump certification. I kept doing the back track over and over and over, so this drink was a lifesaver. And it was delicious! It was flavorful and just plain good.

I’m saving the chews for when I am able to run again and I am crossing my fingers that it’ll be soon. The powders are great because I can just throw them in my purse when I leave the house, and I always have water with me to mix up a great drink.

YMX Athletic Shirts

My hip has been feeling really good these past few days. That plus the arrival of two new workout shirts has really made me want to get back to working out in full-force! Of course, I’m still taking it easy and doing what I can, but I can’t wait to be 100% better!

I recently received two shirts from YMX by Yellowman to try out.

About YMX by Yellowman:

YMX (acronym for YellowMan Expression) was launched in 2009 as an extension of the original, high-end tattoo clothing brand, YellowMan (founded in 2004). Built on an extensive library of original tattoo artwork collected around the globe, YellowMan offers collectible, limited wearable art prints. YMX was created to offer an alternative to YellowMan in a broader, commercial market, while still preserving the authenticity of its origins.

YMX offers multifunctional garments that bridge the gap between athletic and fashion garments. Featuring high-comfort, lightweight MadKool fabrics and detailed, original prints, YMX garments can be worn for athletic use, or for casual wear. As a matter of fact, because of the moisture-wicking properties of the fabric, many people wear YMX in both active and leisure activities without having to change!

The first shirt I received was the Mesh Neck Tank Living Peony in black.

The first thing I noticed was that the shirt looked a little small (I ordered a size medium) but YMX shirts are designed to fit close to the body and have a shape-holding stretch.

Sure enough, the shirt fit perfect and I loved how soft it was.

I normally stick to solid black or pink workout shirts, so I loved the colorful tattoo design on the shirt, and I really like the 2 layers of soft mesh fabric around the neckline. I felt like it gave the shirt a little something extra.

Some other features of the Mesh Neck Tank Living Peony:

  • UV Protection SPF 30 <—- awesome!
  • permanent moisture wicking
  • wrinkle resistant
  • full stretch, holds shape

The next shirt was Infinite Geometry long sleeve shirt in pink.

I love the vibrant color of this shirt and it’s also super soft. Summer in Chicagoland isn’t the best time for long-sleeved shirts, but this shirt will be absolutely perfect for the cold winters.

About this shirt:

  • MadKool fabric
  • UPF 30+
  • Wicking and quick dry
  • Wrinkle and odor resistant

The first thing you should do when you get a new workout shirt?!  A plank! :)

Overall, I really liked both of these shirts. Not only do they have beautiful and colorful designs, but they are super soft, comfortable, and perfect for a variety of sports and activities.

As a Fitfluential Ambassador, I was provided two YMX by Yellowman shirts to review at no charge. All opinions are my own.

  • What’s your favorite thing to wear when you workout?

FitFluential DietBet

As you guys know, I’ve mentioned DietBet in the past, and I thought I’d talk a little bit more about it today. I think the concept behind DietBet is very unique and a great motivator to people like myself who are trying to lose weight – whether you are just beginning your weight loss journey or you’re just trying to lose those last few pesky pounds.

Here’s how it works:
[vimeo http://www.vimeo.com/53184623 w=400&h=300]

The idea behind DietBet is simple – you pay a specified amount of money, then you have four weeks from the time the game begins to lose 4% of your body weight. So, for example, if you weigh 200 pounds, you would need to lose eight pounds. All of the player’s money goes into the pot, and if you’ve lost your 4% after four weeks, you split the pot with the other winners.

This is a great way to do it because one person doesn’t win the pot – as long as you lose your 4%, you’re guaranteed to win money back!

You submit  two photos of yourself – one of your weight on the scale, and one of a full body picture of yourself on the scale. DietBet confirms your pictures and you’re good to go!

The losing weight part is pretty much left up to you, but the online DietBet community is amazing. Each game has its own message board where you can post your workouts, what you ate – good and bad, encourage others, get encouragement from others, and ask questions. It’s a great way to connect with people who are trying to lose weight just like you.

You can post your weight (it can be kept hidden) as you go, but you are only required to actually post it twice – at the beginning and the end of the game. At the end of the game, you submit another picture of yourself on the scale and of your weight.

FitFluential is holding a DietBet that I am very happy to be a part of – participating in a DietBet holds me accountable for my actions and makes me really think about whether or not I need that second cookie…or third :)

The Fitfluential DietBet will run from March 12 – April 8th. Perfect timing to get ready for Spring Break!

DietBet is open to anyone and I would love it if some of you would join me in this game! Whether this is your first time trying to lose weight or you’re a weight loss pro, DietBet is a great motivator! If you would like to join in the DietBet with me, you can sign up here: http://bit.ly/ffdietbet

The reason I am most excited to participate in this DietBet is because the last day of the DietBet (April 8th) will mark exactly a year since I started my weight loss journey.

Hopefully, one more picture to go, and I be able to look back on my total weight loss over the past year! Don’t forget to sign up HERE to participate if you want to join with me!

Fitfluential LLC compensated me for this Campaign. All opinions are my own.

Thanksgiving Calories

Gobble, gobble. Yesterday the kids made hand print turkeys.

Making them took up about 15 minutes of the day, and then they got back to scheming and plotting to take over the world.

Breakfast this morning was Kashi cereal.

I am taking a break from eating Kashi oatmeal everyday and switched over to the cereal.

Today’s Workout

  • 1 mile treadmill
  • “Aerobics Meets Zumba Meets Woo!” Class – 60 minutes

Total Pile on the Miles: 28.7 miles

The normal Butts and Guts teacher wasn’t there today so there was a substitute instructor. She normally teaches Zumba so the class was a mix of some dance moves, aerobics, ab work, and gluteus maximus work. It was actually pretty fun. I did manage to squeeze in one quick mile before class.

I got an email today saying that the average Thanksgiving meal is 1,800 calories. And on Thanksgiving Day the average American will consume 4,500 calories.

I think that 4,500 calories is definitely a lot of calories, but I also think that Thanksgiving is only one day out of the year. It would be different if you were consuming that many calories on a daily basis, and I think that people should be able to enjoy themselves on Thanksgiving without really worrying about it.

I got some good news the other day – I was accepted to be a FitFluential Ambassador.

FitFluential is a nationwide network of highly influential fitness enthusiasts sharing their journey both online and offline through multiple social media platforms. Founded in April of 2011 by Kelly Olexa, FitFluential was designed to connect health and wellness brands with their ideal target market through customized, long-term experiential and contextual marketing campaigns.

What does a FitFluential Ambassador do?

As an Ambassador, you’ll have opportunities to work with our brand partners. That means when fitness brands want to partner with solid FitFluentials on product launches, social media campaigns or audition bloggers for long-term partnerships, our Ambassadors are the first to be invited. This doesn’t mean that every Ambassador gets to participate in every opportunity. The brand ultimately approves the teams chosen for that particular campaign.

So, I am very excited about becoming a part of the FitFluential community!

Questions of the day:

  • Do you watch what you eat on Thanksgiving? Or do you just enjoy yourself?
  • What are you looking forward to eating the most on Thanksgiving?
  • Do you travel for Thanksgiving? Host Thanksgiving? Go to a restaurant?
