Shamrock Protein Shake

Hello and good afternoon!

I am pretty much in love with Shamrock shakes and wait all year for them to come out at McDonald’s. However, I am not in love with the fact that they have close to 600 calories. Yes, I believe in everything in moderation but 600 calories is a lot.

Then the best thing happened – Monica from Run Eat Repeat posted a recipe for a healthier shamrock shake. The second best thing that happened was that I had all the ingredients at home.

You better believe that I made a shamrock shake yesterday after seeing her recipe.

I also love her idea of freezing almond milk to use in smoothies to help keep them thicker. I froze and used three almond milk ice cubes.

In my shamrock shake:

  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (this includes the three almond milk ice cubes)
  • Plain Greek yogurt (I would have used vanilla, but I only had plain in  my fridge)
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1/2 ounce (about a handful) spinach
  • 1/4 tsp. peppermint extract
  • crushed ice
  • 1 packet of truvia

201 calories     26.9 grams protein

If you’re feeling really festive, you could throw a thin mint cookie in there and add only 40 calories.

Luckily, I had peppermint extract leftover from when I made peppermint Oreo truffles during the holidays.

The whole shake only had 201 calories! Much better than 600 calories, and it had a lot of protein!

As soon as Danny got home from work last night, be busted out his snow blower and went to work:

Thanks, Danny, for finding my car under the snow. You’re the best.

Today’s Breakfast

I tried out the new Dannon Oikos cafe latte Greek yogurt, and it was fabulous.

It’s so good, it’s one of those things where you try to scrap out every last bit, lick the lid, and maybe even lick the yogurt container. Come on, I’m not the only one, right?!

It’s definitely a flavor that I will be purchasing a lot of.

Today’s Workout

  • Plank Day #6 – 2 minutes 38 seconds (I’m dying on these!)
  • 1.02 miles treadmill, walked (warm-up)
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • 2.15 miles treadmill, walked/jogged

I’m dying on the plank-a-days, and it’s only March 6th! I am improving though…even if it’s only by a second. Danny’s plank time yesterday and today was 1 minute 50 seconds.

Have a great afternoon!!

  • Plank time?
  • Shamrock shakes: yes or no? Favorite shake?
  • What did you have for breakfast today?

Snacks On The Go

Good afternoon. Today has been busy, busy, busy!

Last night, Jaden woke up at about 10 pm screaming about ear pain. He was up a lot during the night, which meant Danny and I were up a lot last night also. Needless to say, Jaden didn’t go to school this morning.

My morning started with two cups of coffee, and I stopped at McDonald’s later in the morning for another cup. So tired.

Today’s Workout

  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • Plank Day #4 – 2 minutes and 36 seconds

Jaden was able to get an 11:15 am doctor appointment to get his ear checked, so I did my plank-a-day at home, then headed to BodyPump. Right after the gym, I took Jaden to the doctor. Turns out that he has a double ear infection. Poor baby.

Right from the doctor, we went to the pharmacy to fill his antibiotic. Then, we went straight from the pharmacy to pick up my niece.

When we left the pharmacy, it was about 12:30, and I was starting to get hungry (I had a Builder Bar after BodyPump at about 10:20 am). Luckily, I also packed a yogurt tube to bring with, so I ate that.

Whenever I leave the house, I always pack snacks or have a protein bar that I keep in my purse or car. Apparently, I am afraid of starving if I’m out of the house too long. Plus, whenever we get the car the kids are always suddenly hungry, so I am packing snacks for them anyway.

The nutritionist that we meet with during the Biggest Loser program at my gym said that it’s actually good to have healthy snacks that you keep in your car. Not only are they good for post workout snacks, but if you’re out on the road, having a healthy snack is better than stopping at a fast food drive thru. And they’ll help curb your hunger so that you don’t overeat when it is time to eat.

I know that car isn’t the best place to eat, but sometimes you have to. It’s important to have a post workout snack, and I always go pick my niece up directly after the gym, so I always eat my snack in the car.

Great choices for snacks to keep in the car include:

  • fruit
  • nuts
  • protein bars
  • small bags of popcorn or pretzels
  • self stable chocolate milk

I have a little cooler that I bring with me, so my choices include more things:

  • Greek yogurt
  • string cheese
  • veggies and hummus

I take my food very seriously :)

For me, I need to eat small meals throughout the day. If I go too long without eating, I know that I will end up overeating. So, I try to prevent that before it even happens.

Since, I didn’t get home until late in the afternoon, lunch was a lot later than normal (luckily, I had the yogurt tube earlier). I made a green pepper stuffed with brown rice, sautéed spinach, and feta cheese.

I also had one frozen Thin Mint cookie. I’m proud of my portion control on that one :)

We’re supposed to get tons of snow tonight and tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll be able to make it to the gym in the morning. I am ready for spring weather!!

  • Do you carry snacks with you or in the car?
  • What kind of snacks do you eat on the go?
  • Any workout today? Plank time?

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday and first day of March!

I’m very happy to say that I ate good all day yesterday. For dinner, I had spaghetti squash with veggies, marinara sauce, and feta cheese.

It was so good, and  spaghetti squash is a great substitute for pasta.

I had 6.5 ounces of spaghetti squash and the total calories for the whole dish (with sauce, veggies, and feta) was 235 calories. If I had made it with 6.5 ounces of spaghetti instead it would have been approximately 475 calories. So, I am saving calories, carbs, and getting my veggies in!

I honestly don’t miss the pasta noodles. Yes, I think it’s fine to eat pasta, but I like spaghetti squash, so I eat it :)

I like making simple substitutions like the squash for the pasta noodles because it means that I have some extra calories for a treat! I picked up these Skinny Cow peanut butter creme treats to try out.

Peanut butter and chocolate?! Yes, please.

Today’s Breakfast

Breakfast this morning was such a great idea, and so delicious I felt like I was eating dessert. I mixed one tablespoon of PB2 into a vanilla Greek yogurt.

So. Good.

I think I might have this as an after dinner treat with a few chocolate chips thrown on top.

Today’s Workout

  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • Zumba – 60 minutes

The kids didn’t have any school today so they came to the kid’s room at the gym with me.

I checked on them after BodyPump, and they were doing good, so I stuck around for Zumba. Fun times. Fun times.

The rest of the afternoon will be spent making lunch and doing some laundry and stuff.

Tomorrow, we’re going to my grandparent’s house for a game night and chip tasting party.

Lay’s just came out with three new flavors – chicken & waffles, sriracha, and cheesy garlic bread – and I think people can vote for their favorite flavor on their website. ( I had to google sriracha. It’s a hot sauce from Thailand).

I am not excited about the chicken and waffle flavor. It just sounds weird, but we’re going to have a fun night tasting them all!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  • What flavor chips would you like to try the most – chicken and waffles, sriracha, or cheesy garlic bread?
  • Any plans this weekend?
  • What did you have for dinner last night? Tonight?

Sweet Treat

Good afternoon!

Yesterday, I was feeling really snack-y in the afternoon and was craving something sweet. I didn’t want to break the calorie bank (because I like to save some calories for an after dinner treat), so I compromised. I had fat-free hot cocoa with two tablespoons of whipped cream.

It helped me satisfy my sweet craving without going overboard. The best part? It was only 35 calories!

I believe in having treats and everything in moderation, and that’s why I always like to have a treat after dinner which is when I’m really craving something sweet. But I also make sure that I have enough calories left at the end of the day for a treat – I usually have a sweet treat around 150 calories – an Atkins caramel nut bar (trust me, these are delicious!), a Weight Watchers ice cream bar, Greek yogurt, etc. I’ve been trying to stay away from candy and baked goods during the week, so those treats satisfy me.

I don’t plan on counting calories forever, but for now, it helps me so that I don’t overeat.

Today’s Workout

  • Elliptical – 15 minutes
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • 2.5 miles treadmill, walked

I haven’t run in a while because my legs are so darn sore, especially from the new BodyPump. I am going to start my 15k training plan soon, but I think I’ll have to cut down BodyPump to twice a week, because it just makes my legs so sore.

This afternoon, I had hummus melts for lunch.

 (Instagram: RunEatPlay)

Isn’t it funny that this much spinach…

…cooks down to only this much spinach?! Where did you go, spinach?

I also had a peach Greek yogurt on the side for some more protein. I notice that if I don’t eat a good-sized lunch with a good amount of protein then I tend to get really snacky in the afternoons. So, I’ve been trying to eat a bit more substantial lunch.

In total randomness…

I have to share my new Tervis tumbler with you guys.

My normal water cup broke (because I dropped it), and I’ve always wanted a Tervis tumbler but didn’t want to spend $20 on one. Well, yesterday I found one at the store for 50% off. Yes! And the lid has room for a straw which I like.

Have a great afternoon and evening!

  • Do you like spinach? I love spinach and strawberry salads in the summer!
  • What kind of foods do you crave? Sweet? Salty? I could care less about salt. I’m all about the sweets. Although, I do love popcorn a lot.
  • Do you have a special water cup? I have mine with me all day.

A Veggie Filled Lunch

Happy Monday! I hope that everyone had a nice weekend! We spent pretty much the whole day just relaxing yesterday – it was nice. :)

Today’s Workout

  • 1.06 miles treadmill, walked
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • 2.1 miles treadmill, walked

I have three pairs of shoes that I workout in on a regular basis. I wear a pair of Asics for everyday fitness classes (BodyPump, Butts and Guts, Zumba, etc).

For running, I usually wear my Asics GT 2160s or my Mizuno Inspire 9s. I wear the Asics most of the time, but I do like to switch them up a bit. Well, I noticed over the weekend, that there are chunks of shoe missing from the inside of my Asics.

And these shoes aren’t even that worn! How does that even happen?! This is the only pair of shoes that I own that have ever done that before.

Since I pretty much can’t run in them now, I will be buying a new pair soon. I love running in Asics, but have also heard lots of good things about Brooks running shoes. Hopefully, this weekend sometime, I’ll be able to pick up a new pair.

Before leaving to go to the gym, I mixed up a protein shake for a post workout snack. I always bring a snack with me to the gym because I usually pick up my niece directly from the gym.

I used the EAS Lean 15 protein powder…and honestly, I didn’t really enjoy it just mixed with water. I usually use a scoop in my smoothies, and I prefer that over drinking it straight. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t delicious.

Today’s lunch was packed full of veggies (which was much-needed after a weekend of pizza, cake, and french toast).

I sautéed lots of veggies – red onion, zucchini, green pepper, broccoli, spinach, and garlic with a little bit of olive oil, then I served them over scrambled egg whites.

I also had a clementine and a Greek yogurt on the side.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the afternoon!

A big happy birthday to my stepmom, Sue!

  • What brand of shoes do you run in?
  • What was the last vegetable  you ate?
  • Protein powder: yes or no? Favorite kind?

Dance Off

Happy Friday! Can you believe that it’s the last weekend of February?! Time sure flies when you’re old…er than five.

Last night, we had “make your own mini pizza” night, using mini bagels and English muffins.

They say that if you let kids help make their own food, they’ll be more likely to eat it. Yeah, not true with my kids. Jaden had the best time making his mini pizza, but when it was done, he wanted nothing to do with it.

He told me that it wasn’t sweet, like normal pizza. I don’t know what kind of pizza you’re eating, kid, but give some to me.

Jaden also insists on wearing his Abraham Lincoln hat from President’s day. I think Jaden feels a special bond with Lincoln because they share a birthday…and he likes pennies.

Today’s Workout

  • 1.1 miles treadmill, walked
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • Zumba – 60 minutes

I haven’t been to Zumba in a couple of weeks, so I decided to stick around today. And I’m glad that I did because we had a dance-off in Zumba today. We formed two groups and the first group did their best booty shaking moves while the other group watched. Then, the second group did their best booty shaking moves. I’m pretty sure we won…

My secret wish is life has always been to be involved in a) a dance-off or b) a flash mob dance. Secret life dream fulfilled! :)

My second favorite part of Zumba was dancing to the lyrics, My girl got a big ol’ booty, Your girl got a little ol’ booty. Does working out really get any funner than that?! No, no it doesn’t.

After the gym, I stopped at the grocery store to pick up some gallons of water. I have been really forgetful lately – a few weeks ago, I bought a bag of Honeycrisp apples (expensive!) at Target and when I got home, I realized I never put them in the cart after I paid for them. Then, yesterday, I bought three gallons of water and ended up leaving those in the cart after I paid for them. Darn. And the store wasn’t very close, so I just couldn’t go back and get them.

Anyway, whenever I go to the grocery store, some invisible force greater than me always makes me walk down the seasonal candy aisle where I stare lovingly at all the candy. And now they have Easter candy out. Sigh.

I love jelly beans. I love them. But luckily, I was strong enough and I resisted those delicious stupid jelly beans. I really need to stop walking down that aisle and torturing myself.

My dad’s birthday is Sunday and my stepmom’s birthday is Monday, so we’re going over to their house tomorrow to celebrate and there will be cake involved! I guess I better spend a little bit of extra time in the gym tomorrow morning…

Have a great weekend!

  • Do you have any secret wishes to fulfill in life? Anything silly or serious?
  • Jellybeans: yes or no?
  • Any plans this weekend?

Broiled Grapefruit and A Blackberry Winter Book Review

Good afternoon – I hope you’re all having a great day!

This morning started out with a delicious breakfast. I had Kashi oatmeal…

…and a broiled grapefruit!

I saw the broiled grapefruit last week on RER’s blog, and I was intrigued. I like grapefruit but never would have thought to broil one.

I simply cut the grapefruit in half and sprinkled it with a bit of brown sugar. Since I’m trying to cut back on my sugar, I only used half a teaspoon of brown sugar. Then, I broiled it in the oven for about 7-8 minutes on low, and it came out perfect!

It might seem weird to eat a warm grapefruit, but it was actually delicious!

Today’s Workout

  • 1.03 miles treadmill, walked
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • Stairmaster – 21:32 minutes

We did the new BodyPump release in class today (there’s a new releases every three months). It was tough but a great workout! After BodyPump, I did the Stairmaster again and set it climb the Eiffel Tower.

My legs are still sore from only climbing for 15 minutes yesterday! That stairmaster is a great workout!

Blackberry Winter Book Review

I recently read Blackberry Winter by Sarah Jio for Julie’s book club. I tried not to give away too much information, but there might be a couple of spoilers.

About the book: Seattle, 1933. Single mother Vera Ray kisses her three-year-old son, Daniel, goodnight and departs to work the night-shift at a local hotel. She emerges to discover that a May-Day snow has blanketed the city, and that her son has vanished. Outside, she finds his beloved teddy bear lying face-down on an icy street, the snow covering up any trace of his tracks, or the perpetrator’s. Seattle, 2010. Seattle Herald reporter Claire Aldridge, assigned to cover the May 1 “blackberry winter” storm and its twin, learns of the unsolved abduction and vows to unearth the truth. In the process, she finds that she and Vera may be linked in unexpected ways…

Blackberry Winter tells the story through two different character’s points of view - Vera and Claire. Vera lived in the 1930′s and Claire lives in the present. The book flips back and forth from the past to the present.

Personally, I thought Blackberry Winter was just an okay book. It didn’t grab my attention and suck me in like some books do. I thought that the store line was predictable and a little to coincidental.

The story starts out with Vera and the disappearance of her son, Daniel, during a snow storm in 1933. In 2011, a similar snow storm is happening and brings back up the case of Vera and the unsolved mystery of her son’s disappearance. A character makes a remark in the book that Claire is such a great investigating reporter and was able to unearth all this information that no one was able to find. I don’t agree.

First off, Claire’s friend, Abbey, is the one who even gets the ball rolling when she digs out the initial police blotter where Claire found the story. Then, a box of Claire’s personal belongs is delivered to her work where the return address just happens to be the same name as someone who knew Daniel. She contacts this person and is given more clues.

Then, Claire just happens to befriend the coffee shop owner whose coffee shop just happens to be where Vera and Daniel lived. What a coincidence. When Claire goes to retrieve files from a lawyer’s daughter, they find the house has been broken into and the files are a complete mess. Oh wait, there’s a secret room that just so happens to hold the single file that Claire needs. She didn’t even have to sort through one unorganized file. All the clues just fell in her lap. She hardly put herself out on a limb to obtain one clue.

I did like how Claire’s story ended up, and was actually surprised to find out what happened to Daniel. Vera’s story, on the other hand, was nothing but tragedy. Not one good thing happened to her. She lost her job, her son, the love of her life, and her own life. Depressing.

I also think the story was a little too predictable. For example, as soon as I started reading the book, I knew right away that although Claire and her husband’s marriage was suffering that they end up together in the end of the story. I also didn’t find the way that they got back together very believable. The whole book they rarely talk or know where the other is. They spend all their time with other another women and another man, and then her husband, Ethan, decides to move out for a while. After half a day of being away, he suddenly discovers that he does love Claire and runs back home to profess his undying love for her…after being away for half a day. They spent tons more time than that apart during the book.

I understand that they suffered a terrible tragedy during their marriage and with how much emphasis they put on that tragedy during the story, I found it a little hard to believe that Ethan completely forgets the one year anniversary of that tragedy (I don’t want to give too much away!)

Bottom line: Blackberry Winter wasn’t  poorly written or even a bad storyline, but it just didn’t grab my attention and interest me the way some books do. I’d say read it and let me know your thoughts!

After I was done reading Blackberry Winter, I needed a new book to read so I bought Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks on my Kindle. I think it’s also a movie out in theaters right now, maybe? I like Nicholas Sparks, but I don’t always read his books because they always make me cry uncontrollably (Dear John…) but Safe Haven seems really good so far. I am about 75% done and can’t wait to finish! And I haven’t cried once.

  • Have you read Blackberry Winter or Safe Haven?
  • Favorite book? Favorite author?
  • Ever try a broiled grapefruit?

Every Monday I come on here and complain about how much I ate over the weekend and about how my weight is up blah, blah, blah. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of overeating on the weekends and undoing all the hard work I’ve put into losing 30 pounds.

I think it’s all about baby steps. And my first baby step is to cut way back on the sugar. I eat too much sugar. I have a huge sweet tooth. When I eat sugar, it makes me crave more sugar. Then before I know it, I’ve eaten ten Hershey kisses and half a Dove bar. And once I start on the treats, I have a hard time stopping. I’m not the kind of person that can eat two Hershey kisses. I need five. So, for me, it’s better not to start with even one Hershey kiss.

So, my mini goal for this week is to cut back on the refined sugar – no candy, ice cream, chocolate, etc. Even though fruit and yogurt have a lot of sugar, I still plan to eat those because they’re a whole lot healthier than candy hearts. It’s all about baby steps. I’m hoping that by controlling my sugar intake it will help me to eat a bit better on the weekends.

Okay, enough complaining….

I have to share my intense love for the Golden French Toast coffee.

If you have a Keurig, I recommend buying it! I usually like darker roasts, but this flavor is delicious!

Today’s Workout

  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • 1.12 miles treadmill, ran

Since today is President’s Day, there was no school and the kids came to the gym with me. I don’t like leaving them in the kid’s room for too long, but I wanted to get a bit of cardio in after BodyPump, so I just ran a quick mile on the treadmill.

The worst picture ever but the cutest tank top:

I found these workout tanks at Meijer over the weekend on sale for only $7.50. This one is gray and hot pink, and I also got one in hot pink and neon yellow. I think they’re so cute, and they were cheap. Who knew you could find cute workout clothes at a grocery store?

I’ve also heard that Costco has some pretty good workout clothes.

I used half of the Peanut Butter & Co. package on toast yesterday for breakfast, and I used the other half in my smoothie for lunch today.

Yes, that is a Yogurtland spoon that I’m using. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle :)

In my smoothie:

  • strawberries
  • blueberries
  • peanut butter
  • plain Greek yogurt
  • almond milk
  • crushed ice

I also topped it with a tiny bit of granola for some crunch.

On a totally unrealated note…the new season of the Amazing Race started last night! Anyone watching?

  • Do you struggle with anything? How do you deal with it?
  • Where do you usually buy workout clothes? Regular clothes?
  • What was for lunch today?
  • What TV shows do you watch?

English Muffin Hummus Melts

Thank you for all the birthday wishes for Jaden! He was feeling a lot better yesterday when I brought him home from school. I think it was just a fluke thing that he threw up.

He did decide though that he wanted to postpone his birthday dinner (Wendy’s and cake) until tonight. I think he just wanted to drag his birthday out for another day :)

He opened his birthday presents last night, and he was very excited to get Mio.

Jaden loves that stuff – I think he got five bottles for Christmas. Mio is just liquid that your squirt into water to give it some flavor. It’s pretty good, and Jaden can’t get enough of them.

Breakfast this morning was a bowl of Kashi Go Lean cereal and a clementine.

I know that some people don’t like the Kashi Go Lean cereal, but I actually really like it. It isn’t sweet like the Cheerio Medley cereal is, but it actually fills me up. One cup has 13 grams of protein!

Today’s Workout

  • .81 miles treadmill
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • 1.3 miles treadmill

I tried running on the treadmill after BodyPump this morning, but my legs just weren’t feeling it. My calves have been really tight lately, so I wore my calf sleeves for the first time in a while, but I think my calves were still to sore from all the lunges and squats in BodyPump. I just ended up walking with a little bit of random jogging thrown in.

Lunch was actually something different today! While I was browsing on Pinterest the other day I came across a recipe similar to mini English muffin pizzas, except you use hummus instead of pizza sauce – hummus melts!

For my mini hummus pizzas I used:

  • One whole wheat English muffin
  • 1 tbsp. garlic hummus
  • 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese
  • Approx. 1 oz. baby spinach
  • 1/2 tsp. olive oil

Calories: 262   Protein: 13.8 grams

I sautéed the spinach with the olive oil and then toasted the English muffin. I topped the English muffin with the hummus, spinach, and mozzarella cheese and broiled in the oven for a few minutes.

Oh my gosh – these were so amazingly delicious that I’m think about having them for dinner too! Try these and you won’t be disappointed!

I added a Greek yogurt for a little more protein and some baby carrots on the side.

Weight Loss Wednesday

I was unsure whether or not I was going to continue with Weight Loss Wednesday since the Diet Bet is now over…but as I was coming down the stairs yesterday Danny randomly shouted out weight loss Wednesday at me. I don’t know why. It was strange. But I’m guessing it meant that he wanted me to continue with Weight Loss Wednesday.

It’s slightly embarrassing to admit – but from Friday morning to Monday morning, I gained five pounds. Isn’t that ridiculous? I know it’s from all the cake, sweets, and salty foods that I ate over the weekend. I don’t usually eat too much sodium, so when I do, I gain weight very fast.

Monday, I started drinking the Jillian Michaels detox water. I weighed myself this morning, and I lost four pounds in two days. I don’t know if this is because of the detox water or if it’s just my weight returning back to normal, but I’ll take it.

So, if you’re keeping track, I am actually still up one pound from my final weigh-in for the Diet Bet, which is okay. I have gotten back to eating really good this week, and have been drinking the detox water everyday. Tomorrow will be a little harder because we have a special meal planned for Valentine’s Day. My plan is just to eat really good all day long and let myself enjoy the one Valentine’s Day meal without guilt or regret.

Wow – that was a lot of Weight Loss Wednesday info. And technically I guess it should be Weight Gain Wednesday since I’m up a pound. However, Mr. Danny has lost one more pound since the Diet Bet ended! He’s still going strong!

Have a great afternoon!

  • Did you workout today?
  • Favorite pizza topping? Do you ever make your own pizza?
  • What’s your favorite birthday dinner? Did you have a special meal growing up on your birthday?

Weigh-In Wednesday…One Day to Go

It’s that time again – weigh-in Wednesday!

I’ll admit that I was very nervous about stepping on the scale this morning, especially because of the Super Bowl and my one pound weight gain last week, but…

I lost 2.2 pounds this week! That’s a total weight loss of exactly 6 pounds since Danny and I started the Diet Bet four weeks ago.

That means I lost 4% of my body weight and will win the Diet Bet! However, the Diet Bet doesn’t end until tomorrow, not today, like I thought. As long as I don’t gain a pound overnight, I’ll be good.

I am very excited that I hit my 4%. I honestly wasn’t sure if I’d make it. And I still have a day left, so fingers crossed…

Danny did great this week. He lost 2.8 pounds for a total weight loss of 16.2 pounds! Great job, Danny!

Danny’s strategy these last few days has been to run like crazy on the treadmill…mine has been to drink a crap load of water. I guess both strategies worked.

Drinking a lot of water is a great way to aid in weight loss. It revs your metabolism, helps you feel full, cleans the toxins out of your body, and keeps you hydrated. I 100% believe that drinking a lot of water has helped me lose the weight. You should drink at least half of your body weight in ounces in water a day.

I don’t measure my water, but I know that I drink probably more than that. I use this cup everyday and drink from it all day long.

Breakfast this morning was half of a grapefruit and the new passion fruit clementine Fage yogurt.

The yogurt was okay. I’m not a huge passion fruit fan, but it was very flavorful. I didn’t taste the clementine at all, just the passion fruit.

Half of a grapefruit and a yogurt might seem like a small breakfast, but I usually eat when I wake up before I work out, and then I eat again right after I workout – kind of like two mini breakfasts instead of one big breakfast. Post workout was my normal snack today:

Today’s Workout

  • Elliptical – 14 minutes
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes
  • 1.33 miles treadmill, walked

My abs are super sore today from yesterday’s Butt and Guts class. My abs rarely ever get sore. I don’t know if I have weaker ab muscles from having two babies or what, but even if I do a lot of crunches they don’t often get sore. So maybe this is a good thing.

Have a great afternoon!

  • If you’re doing the Diet Bet, did you meet your goal?
  • Do you drink water? Enough water?
  • Do you eat breakfast every day? What time?
  • What body part seems to get the most sore when you workout? Today my abs are sore, but it’s usually my legs!

***Don’t forget – Today is the last day to enter my Crunchmaster giveaway!***
