Shopping, Lunch, and a Little Liam

Today’s Workout

  • Biggest Loser Boot Camp – 60 minutes

This morning was the very last Biggest Loser boot camp.

I can’t believe that there’s only one more week until the end of the Biggest Loser contest. These last few weeks seemed to just fly by. Next Saturday is our final weigh-in and then the big finale is the Fall Fitness 5k.

It was a tough workout, but the weather was so beautiful this morning, so I wasn’t dripping in sweat like I normally am. I hope the weather stays like this – I am ready for fall weather!

After boot camp this morning, we headed out to Woodfield Mall. I have been dying to get one of the initial coffee mugs that I have been seeing everywhere lately from Anthropologie.

Yay! I got my H mug! We walked around Woodfield a bit, then we went for lunch. I stopped at Whole Foods and got a salad since it’s right across from Woodfield. Then, we drove to Portillo’s for Danny and the kids.

And of course, I had to have a few Portillo’s fries. I love their cheese fries.

Then, we went to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s house to visit with our nephew. We haven’t seen him since the hospital, and he’s exactly two weeks old today. Isn’t he so sweet?

Such a little cutie baby!

The kids had fun feeding the animals, and riding the four-wheeler with Uncle Mike.

The rest of the evening will be spent relaxing at home. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Last week in nutrition class, the dietician talked about setting SMART goals for yourself. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevent, and Time Specific.

Specific – Pick an exact goal and how you’re going to achieve it. “Eat carrots with my sandwich instead of chips.”

Measurable¬†- By measuring your goals, you’ll be able to see progress. Check back in with your goal after a certain amount of time to see your progress. “I will eat three servings of fruit every day this week.”

Achievable¬†- Setting a few small goals in more achievable then setting one large goal and helps you to feel accomplished. “I will lose 1-2 pounds this week.” If your main goal is to eat less sugar, an achievable goal could be, “I will cut out one soda pop a day.”

Relevent – Your goals should relate to you. If you don’t like eating broccoli, then don’t make eating it your goal. Instead try a goal like, “I will try one new vegetable this week” or “I will take the dog out for a 30 minute walk when I get home from work.”

Time Specific РSet yourself a time for achieving your goals. Being healthy should be a long-term life goal, but changing habits can take a while, so give yourself a few weeks to accomplish each goal building up to the big picture.

Do you make goals for yourself?

Yesterday’s Workout

  • 3.22 miles treadmill – walk/run
  • Biggest Loser Workout – 60 minutes

Yesterday’s Biggest Loser workout was tough! We did a lot of sprinting, push-ups, squats, strength training, etc. A little mix of everything. I was so done by the end. We’re in the last few weeks of the Biggest Loser challenge, so the trainers are really pushing us hard.

The guy in first place has lost¬†a total of 25 pounds so far. That is awesome! I am down 12 pounds total. My weight is pretty much at a stand still right now, but I’m still hoping to lose a few more pounds by the end.

Today’s Workout

  • Butts and Guts – 60 minutes

I really wasn’t in the mood to go to the gym this morning after yesterday’s workout, but it’s something that I’m so used to doing. I go to the gym every morning at 9 am, it’s kind of like a job. I wouldn’t¬†skip going to¬†my job, so I don’t¬†skip the gym just because I’m feeling lazy. And of course, I never regret a workout :)

Today in Butts and Guts we did a lot of kickboxing moves Рjabs, punches, kicks, etc. We also did some strength training and finished up with ab work.

After my workout, I had a thinkThin bar. I haven’t had one of these in a while, and it was good!

And of course, I have to share a picture of my new nephew because he’s so darn cute!

Questions of the day:

  • Are you working on any goals right now? Could be anything not just health goals. Maybe work goals or life goals?
  • Do you “schedule” workout time?
  • Any plans for today?

What a Weekend

This weekend was such a whirlwind of craziness and excitement, but luckily everything is pretty much calmed down and back to normal now.

On Friday night, we went to an ice cream social at Jaden’s school.

Who doesn’t love free ice cream?!

Then on Friday night/Saturday morning at 2 am, we got the call that my sister-in-law was in labor and at the hospital. It didn’t seem like the baby was coming right then and there, so we tried to get a little more sleep which was hard because we were so excited!

I skipped boot camp Saturday morning, and we got to the hospital about 10 am. My sister-in-law, Mandy, hadn’t progressed much, so we settled down to wait. I started out trying to eat healthy at the hospital:

But as the day progressed, that went out the window. Everyone was drinking coffee and energy¬†drink, eating candy and chips. We went out for pizza. Mandy’s aunt bought everyone McDonald’s late at night. It was a crazy, looonnnnggg day.

The kids fell asleep at the hospital about midnight.

Baby Liam was born about 10 pm Saturday night, but we weren’t able to see him until 12:30 am. Mom and baby were healthy, but everything didn’t go according to plan. I think babies have their own agenda.

Isn’t he a doll?! I love him.

We spent 14 hours at the hospital and finally got home close to 2 am. I made the mistake of taking an Advil PM. My stomach was hurting from all the crap I ate all day, and I just wanted to sleep. But whenever I take Advil PM, I am completely out of it the whole entire next day, which isn’t fun.

I woke up about 10:30 am on Sunday morning. I had plans to meet my other sister-in-law and Grandma for lunch, so I rushed to get ready, feeling all crappy and groggy. We meet at Corner Bakery, and luckily they still were serving breakfast paninis, so I had one with egg whites, cheddar, and spinach. Along with three cups of coffee. We had a nice time catching up at lunch.

The rest of the day was kind of blurry. We went back to the hospital to visit with the baby. Then, we stopped for some fro-yo, and when we got home I took a nap until 6pm, which means, of course, that I didn’t fall asleep until after 11 pm last night.

Things are pretty much back to normal today. The kids got off to school, and I went to BodyPump. We did the brand new BodyPump release today, which was a nice change.

Post workout, I had a Atkin’s cranberry almond bar. These bars are so good!

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law didn’t find out the gender of the baby before he was born, so I haven’t been able to buy many clothes. So, after the gym you better believe that I went out to buy the two cutest onesies that ever existed!

In other news, I decided to try to¬†cut out dairy¬†for a week or so. I have been having intense stomach pains lately, and I’m thinking that dairy¬†might be the cause. I can’t believe how much stuff has dairy in it – both my oatmeal and Atkin’s bar had dairy in it, so I am just going to try not to eat straight dairy like milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. to see if it helps.

The milk won’t be a problem because I have never drank cow’s milk anyway – I drink almond milk. Cheese will be harder, but I can deal with it. The hardest part will be the Greek yogurt. I eat one or two Greek yogurts a day and really rely on it as a protein source. I guess that means I’ll have to eat more peanut butter! We’ll see how things go!

Questions of the day:

  • What did you do this weekend?
  • Do you have a hard time sleeping?
  • Do you eat dairy? Any tips on how to eat dairy free?

I’m an Aunt!!

I wasn’t able to post yesterday because we spent fourteen hours at the hospital awaiting the birth of my brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s first baby. It was a very long and hectic day but everyone is healthy and happy.

And I am the proud new auntie of my baby peanut nephew!! I love him with all my heart!

Proud daddy and Baby Liam:

Danny looks shocked that it’s a baby:

I hope you all had a great weekend! I am off to visit my nephew and buy some “I love my auntie” onesies!
