Christmas Eve Circuit Workout

Happy Christmas Eve!!

The kid’s elf, Nick, is very excited that it’s almost Christmas!

Yesterday, we had a busy day. Jacob had a dentist appointment to get a tooth pulled, I had physical therapy, and then we ran a few errands. When we got home, the kids wrapped their presents for Danny.

I also baked a ton of cookies yesterday. I made my favorite, Butterscotch Reese’s cookies.

I also made Peanut Butter Blossoms.

And regular chocolate chip cookies.

As much as I love the holidays, I can’t wait until they’re over so I can get back on track with eating. I have been sampling too many delicious cookies lately!

This morning, I headed to the gym at about 8:00 am to get my workout in before we go to my grandparent’s house later this afternoon.

Crazy hair, don’t care:

I started with 12 minutes on the elliptical to warm-up and then I did the following circuit workout. I did each circuit three times, resting 1-2 minutes in between. (Use weights you’re comfortable with.)

Circuit #1:

  • lateral raises with an alternating knee raise x12 each leg
  • ball wall squat with a biceps curl to overhead press x15
  • seated stability ball overhead triceps extensions x15

Circuit #2:

  • kettlebell swings x20
  • chest flies on stability ball x15
  • straight arm overhead reach on stability ball x15

Circuit #3:

  • woodchoppers with medicine ball x12 each side
  • plank/side plank (45 seconds each)
  • heel touches x20 each side
  • donkey kicks with weight behind knee x12 each leg

It was a good Christmas Eve workout!!

When I got home I started getting things ready for tonight. I am making one more batch of cookies. Jacob asked me to make Nutella cookies and he never asks me to make anything special for him so I decided to try them out. I just made regular chocolate chip cookies, added a little Nutella, and then I will do a Nutella drizzle on top of the cookies.

The dough is chilling right now, so we’ll see how they come out! I am also making a buffalo chicken dip for my grandparent’s house tonight. We’re supposed to be getting snow soon but I hope the weather isn’t too bad because my grandparent’s live about an hour away. And then Santa comes tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Christmas!

  • What are your plans for tonight and tomorrow?

Christmas Treats Recipe Round-up

Good afternoon! This weekend I am baking cookies for our family Christmas party and I always bake cookies for Danny to take to work. Today, I thought I’d share some of my favorite past Christmas treat recipes. Enjoy!

(Click on the links for the recipes!)

These are so easy to make and great for kids. You can make a lot of these in a short amount of time so they’re great for parties or to give out as gifts.

These cookies look fantastic and taste wonderful. And who doesn’t love chocolate and peanut butter?!

This is another treat that’s easy to make and makes a great gift.

If you only make one treat this Christmas, it should be Peppermint Oreo Truffles. These little bites of heaven are amazing. Amazing.

These are one of my favorite cookies to make around the holidays and once again, you can’t go wrong with the chocolate and peanut butter combo!

Have a great afternoon!

Friday Favorites

Disclaimer: The Old Factory Candle Set mentioned below was gifted to me by the company. All opinions are my own.

Happy Friday!

I didn’t go to the gym this morning because I had physical therapy but Danny and I plan on going together tomorrow morning.

Let’s jump right into today’s favorites!

  • The Treadmill

I have so happy that I have been able to start walking longer distances on the treadmill. I even broke out my Mizuno running shoes yesterday to walk 2.5 miles.

I walked on the gym’s Woodway treadmill which is a lot easier on the joints. I followed it up with some core exercises and stretching.

My next doctor appointment is on November 17th so we’ll see what he says about easing back into running.

  • Target

No explanation needed.

  • Old Factory Candles

I love candles and I love buying new scents at the beginning of each season. Old Factory Candles sent me this gift set of three holidays candles – Christmas Tree, Candy Cane, and Gingerbread.

They smell amazing. The candy cane scent is my absolute favorite. It smells like I want to lick it.

I love that the scent of each candle is so strong and really gets the room smelling nice. The Old Factory Candles are natural soy candles and all hand poured in the USA. These would make a great holiday gift! You can order your own Old Factory Candles on Amazon.

  • Christmas Decorations

I love Christmas decorations and all things Charlie Brown Christmas are my favorite. I have been wanting the Charlie Brown Christmas tree forever, but never could justify the $15-$20 price tag. Well, I was at Five Below early this week and they had it for $5! Of course, I had to buy it. :)

Look at that sad little Christmas tree. :( Doesn’t it make you so happy?!!

  • Coffee Mugs

I love coffee mugs, especially holiday themed mugs. I recently added two new Christmas mugs to my collection.

The North Pole mug is from Target and the other mug is from Hobby Lobby. Oh, and I really really love my husband. :) (<—- I have to say that because Danny doesn’t quite share my…enthusiasm for coffee mugs, and I’m sure he won’t be the happiest when he sees I’ve added another mug to my collection. If it were up to him, I’d have one coffee mug for the rest of my life and really where’s the fun in that?! Coffee mugs are life).

  • Whole Foods Salsa Verde

Last weekend, we went to a new-to-us Whole Foods, and they had a taco bar. (That is genius. Every place of business should have a taco bar). We ordered some tacos and some chips and salsa to go with it.

Danny got the salsa verde, which we’ve never had, and it was amazing. Amazing. Delicious. I will even go as far as to say it was the best salsa that I’ve ever had. Ever. In my life.

I almost felt kind of sad that I went my entire life without eating this green goodness that is salsa verde. Anyway, I found it at our nearby Whole Foods today, and I bought it. That is all.

Well, those are my favorites for today! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Holiday Happenings

Happy Friday! I’m glad to see that we’re all around still. I must admit, I was a little nervous about the end of the Mayan calendar for a while there. But it seems like planet Earth will continue on, and we should make the best of each day while we can.

Yesterday

Yesterday afternoon, my niece had a doctor appointment, and it turned out that the doctor’s office was literally right behind Whole Foods. What a perfect excuse to stop in for lunch! I haven’t been to Whole Foods in a long time and lunch was delicious.

I had a salad, some fruit, and some noodles. And we shared a piece of pizza.

Luckily, the winter storm didn’t turn out to be as bad as I expected last night. My sister-in-law came and picked up my niece and made it home safely. Danny rented us It’s A Wonderful Life to watch, except that I didn’t realize it’s over two hours long. It has been a stressful past few days, and I was really tired, so we only watched half of it and plan on finishing it tonight.

Today

Today’s Workout

  • 1.1 mile treadmill
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes

My workout was the same this morning. I walked on the treadmill for about a mile and then went to BodyPump. After the gym, I had a few errands to run, and then I had Jaden’s holiday party and sing-a-long at his school.

I love being able to the classroom parties at his school. He loves having his mommy there, and I love helping out. The kids loved the reindeer water bottles, and we made candy cane reindeer.

This weekend, we’re pretty much just finishing up all the last-minute holiday stuff. I have to get some groceries for Christmas breakfast. I think I am going to make this cinnamon french toast that I found via Pinterest via this blog.

(Source)

The kids love the McDonald’s cinnamon melts, so I figured they’d love this french toast too. Sunday, I’m baking some cooking for Christmas Eve.

Have a great weekend!

Questions of the day:

  • Favorite place to eat for lunch?
  • Favorite Christmas movie?
  • Any plans for today? This weekend?
