Hi! I’m Heather. Thanks for checking out Run Eat Play!

I started this blog as a way to document my journey with fitness, food, and fun. I am hoping to use it as a way to keep myself accountable for living a healthy and balanced lifestyle, while working on my fitness and food goals.

I have a wonderful husband, Danny. And two young children – both boys. Having a family keeps me busy, and can be a little stressful at times, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I work on creating a healthy balance between my  husband, kids, work, household, and myself.

RUN

Running is something that I really enjoy, but struggle with.  I am not a “natural runner.” I am trying harder to improve my running skills. I have done quite a few 5Ks and would like to improve my 5k time and eventually do a 10K. (Update: completed my first 10k).

I do enjoy fitness as a whole and enjoy many different activities. I like going to the gym (when time allows it), strength training, Body Pump, kickboxing, biking, and walking. I am not a fitness or nutrition professional, and just enjoy being active.

EAT

Watch out, giant M&M, I might eat cha!

My weight is something that I sometimes struggle with, basically because I love to eat! I am not overweight, but I weigh more than I would like to, and hope that this blog can help serve as a visual food journal. I try to eat healthy most of the time, but I have a huge sweet tooth. Basically, I love candy and ice cream and cookies and cupcakes…okay, if it has sugar I love it! But I do also love healthy foods too – vegetables, fruit, greek yogurt, oatmeal, salmon. I just make sure to have a healthy balance!

I having recently started reading the book based on Intuitive Eating. I am hoping that by listening to my body’s natural hunger cues, I will be able to stop eating when I am full and not eat unconsciously.

PLAY

Play! Live Life! I think that one of the biggest things in life is to not take yourself too seriously and make each day the best that you can. Sure, we might all have bad days, but tomorrow is a new day!

Having two young children gives me a lot of opportunities to play. Having such a close family gives me the opportunity to have lots of fun. Enjoy life as it comes!

  1. I am not a natural runner at all, I wish I was. I just started running in the past 10 months and have completed 2 5k’s with 2 more and a 10k in the works before the year is out. Food I just love, I can’t get enough of it and my body shows it more than I would like it too :) Glad that you found me on here, can’t wait to follow along your journey!
