I Went to Zumba

Good morning!

Yesterday was one of those days that I didn’t feel like going to the gym. I was up late the night before for Jaden’s party and I woke up early because my body just can’t seem to sleep in on the weekends. I decided to go to the gym anyway in hopes that it would give me some much needed energy.

I’m glad I did go to the gym because I ended up working out for two hours!

I was too tired to come up with a workout plan so at the last minute I decided to go to Zumba. Yes, I went to Zumba class. It’s probably been almost a year since I’ve gone to Zumba and it’s only my third group fitness class since my hip surgery.

I was a little worried because Zumba is a little more high impact with a lot of jumping but of course you can modify as needed. My hip felt a little tight but not painful. It was Achilles that bothered me the most. I’ve already stopped running for the most part because it bothers me and I know I need to cut back on the jumping exercises also until it gets better.

Zumba ended up being really fun and I’m glad that I went. I also rode the stationary bike for about 20 minutes afterwards to loosen up my hip and then I did some core exercises followed by a lot of foam rolling and stretching.

I expected to wake up this morning incredibly sore but I wasn’t too bad. I was more tired than anything. I went to the gym this morning and did the Bikini Body Mommy Day #36 workout. I am proud of myself for continuing to do the workouts every day!

The BMM workouts are fairly short and today was a strength training day so I decided to do the workout circuit style. I did the whole entire workout then I rested about 2-3 minutes and then completed the entire workout two more times. So, I did the full workout three times, resting 2-3 minutes in between.

I did the divebomber push-ups the first time through the workout but I had to do push-ups on the wall the other two times because my wrist was killing me. And I have a feeling those dumbbell windmills are going to make me super sore come tomorrow.

Books

I read the book The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins over the weekend.

It’s been compared to Gone Girl and while I think Gone Girl was a lot crazier, it was still a really good book.

It’s about a women named Rachel who has been divorced for two years and has turned to alcohol to help her get through it. She takes the train every morning and has to go past her ex-husband and new wife’s house (which used to be her house) everyday. She likes to watch the people she passes outside on the train, specifically a couple who live a few doors down from her ex, who she has named “Jess and Jason.”

One day she sees something from the train at Jess and Jason’s house that she’s not meant to see and the story unfolds from there. It was a quick read that will constantly keep you guessing!

If you’re looking for a new book to read, I definitely recommend it.
