Love Life

Today, I would just like to take a minute to appreciate life and how lucky we are to be alive. Today, right now, my sister-in-law’s dad is getting a double lung transplant. It’s a surgery that takes 10-12 hours, given that there aren’t any complications.

A double lung transplant. He is receiving two lungs from another human being who was compassionate enough to help someone else become fortunate because of his unfortunate situation. Crystal’s dad is receiving a new chance at life and will be able to breath without it being a constant struggle.

That is the kind of thing that we take for granted. Could you imagine not being able to breathe? The miracles of modern medicine boggle my mind. It is amazing what doctors are capable to doing. They saved my son who was born 15 weeks early, weighing less than 2 pounds, and who was unable to breath on his own.

Now, they are saving a man who has struggled to breath on a daily basis, and remained on a lung transplant list for an extended amount of time. Of course, the road to recovery is long and complicated but imagine being given a second chance at life.

Life is too short. Be happy. Love. Live your life. Don’t surround yourself with negativity. Love people for who they are. Spread love. Spread happiness. Don’t take life for granted.

Hope all goes well with his surgery. This was such a fitting post for me today. One of my best friends cousins was a police officer who I knew well and was shot in the head in a high speed chase, he died this morning. Really puts everything else that’s not important into perspective.

  6. Every day is such a gift to be savored. Prayers to Crystal’s dad. I hope everything goes well!
