When I woke up this morning, my calves finally felt a lot better. I’m sure wearing my compression socks all day yesterday helped.

I woke up at 6 am to run before Danny went to work. I ran three miles.

My right side was sore the whole time – my butt, hip, and quad were not happy. But still, I ran the three miles without too much difficulty. I came home and stretched and foam rolled for about 10 minutes.

After the kids woke up and got ready, I headed back to the gym for BodyPump.

Of course, my first thought was to make a smoothie with the Sustained Energy protein powder. I went through my freezer to see what frozen fruit I had available, and I came across a bag of frozen cherries.


I decided to make a chocolate covered cherry smoothie. When ever smoothies are being made, Jaden needs to help.

The smoothie was super simple to make. All we used was:

  • frozen cherries
  • almond milk
  • Designer Whey Sustained Energy in Chocolate Velvet
  • crushed ice

The smoothie came out delicious. The chocolate velvet protein powder is very flavorful, so the chocolate really stood out in the smoothie. And who doesn’t love chocolate?!


Danny decided to try out the vanilla bean flavor after his workout. While I prefer adding my protein powder to smoothies, Danny likes drinking it mixed into water or milk.

Just add one scoop of protein powder to 5-8 ounces of water, juice, or milk. Danny said that he really liked the vanilla bean flavor and thought it had the perfect vanilla taste.

    I would love to try the chocolate velvet protein powder! Designer Whey was the first protein powder I bought a few months back except I tried the vanilla praline flavor. Your blog and others talk about these delicious chocolate smoothies with spinach and other ingredients and I’m dying to try out those combinations!
