Exercise Drumming

Good afternoon! Today’s Workout

  • Elliptical – 12 minutes
  • Butts and Guts Class – 60 minutes
  • Stairmaster, 100 floors 24 minutes

I have been working out for quite a few years and have come across many different types of exercises – BodyPump, Step, Zumba, CrossFit, Water Aerobics, Spin, Barre Class, etc. Well, today in Butts and Guts, I was introduced to a completely new to me form of exercise – Exercise Drumming. Yes, with drumsticks.

I forget the exact name of the program that my instructor used but it was similar to Pound or Drums Alive. We set up stationary balls in upside risers and were all given drumsticks.

We looked something like this:

We used the drumsticks to hit the balls while doing all sorts of exercises – squats, lunges, shuffling, grapevine, etc. I think it might take a while getting used to, but I really really enjoyed it. I love trying out new forms of exercise and drumming was fun but a workout at the same time. I hope the instructor continues to do it.

After all that exercise drumming, I went and climbed the Eiffel Tower on the StairMaster.

Lunch

Lunch this afternoon was a salad with baby romaine lettuce, feta cheese, walnuts and cranberries, pears, and Vidalia onion dressing. I also had a Chobani blueberry Greek yogurt for some protein.

Over the weekend, I came across a delicious recipe on Pinterest for a spinach, marinara sauce, and cheese panini-type sandwich. I decided that I must make that sandwich…except it was made on a George Foreman grill, which I don’t have.

So, I did what any normal person would do when they want a sandwich – I went out and bought a George Foreman Grill.

I bought the cheapest one that I could find – $20. I actually didn’t buy it just to make the sandwich, although that’s what pushed me to buy it. I am excited to try lots of different recipes out with it. Tonight, I am going to use to make salmon and asparagus and tomorrow I’ll make the panini. :) Have a great afternoon!
