Monday…again.
Every Monday I come on here and complain about how much I ate over the weekend and about how my weight is up blah, blah, blah. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of overeating on the weekends and undoing all the hard work I’ve put into losing 30 pounds.
I think it’s all about baby steps. And my first baby step is to cut way back on the sugar. I eat too much sugar. I have a huge sweet tooth. When I eat sugar, it makes me crave more sugar. Then before I know it, I’ve eaten ten Hershey kisses and half a Dove bar. And once I start on the treats, I have a hard time stopping. I’m not the kind of person that can eat two Hershey kisses. I need five. So, for me, it’s better not to start with even one Hershey kiss.
So, my mini goal for this week is to cut back on the refined sugar – no candy, ice cream, chocolate, etc. Even though fruit and yogurt have a lot of sugar, I still plan to eat those because they’re a whole lot healthier than candy hearts. It’s all about baby steps. I’m hoping that by controlling my sugar intake it will help me to eat a bit better on the weekends.
Okay, enough complaining….
I have to share my intense love for the Golden French Toast coffee.
If you have a Keurig, I recommend buying it! I usually like darker roasts, but this flavor is delicious!
Today’s Workout
- BodyPump – 60 minutes
- 1.12 miles treadmill, ran
Since today is President’s Day, there was no school and the kids came to the gym with me. I don’t like leaving them in the kid’s room for too long, but I wanted to get a bit of cardio in after BodyPump, so I just ran a quick mile on the treadmill.
The worst picture ever but the cutest tank top:
I found these workout tanks at Meijer over the weekend on sale for only $7.50. This one is gray and hot pink, and I also got one in hot pink and neon yellow. I think they’re so cute, and they were cheap. Who knew you could find cute workout clothes at a grocery store?
I’ve also heard that Costco has some pretty good workout clothes.
Lunch
I used half of the Peanut Butter & Co. package on toast yesterday for breakfast, and I used the other half in my smoothie for lunch today.
Yes, that is a Yogurtland spoon that I’m using. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
In my smoothie:
- strawberries
- blueberries
- peanut butter
- plain Greek yogurt
- almond milk
- crushed ice
I also topped it with a tiny bit of granola for some crunch.
On a totally unrealated note…the new season of the Amazing Race started last night! Anyone watching?
- Do you struggle with anything? How do you deal with it?
- Where do you usually buy workout clothes? Regular clothes?
- What was for lunch today?
- What TV shows do you watch?

We are so on the same page sometimes! After shoving two Reece hearts in my face before bed last night (I swear sugar is like kicking cigaretts for me, although I never smoke) I too am cutting sugar out….fruit, veggies protein and greek yogurt for the next four weeks to see what happens. Marshall’s (do you all have those there?) has some ADORABLE running/workout gear right now…very Lululemonish! Had a smoothie as well today!
Good luck cutting the sugar – I think we can do it!! I’ll have to check out Marshalls. We also have TJMaxx which is similar!
I have the same exact eating struggles as you do! I can’t have just one, I have to have 10 (especially when it comes to sweets). So I try not to eat any in the first place. When I do eat sweets, I try as hard as I can to wait until after dinner. Once I eat something sweet in the morning- my whole day will be bad.
I think the only thing that’s really helped me lose weight in the past is being really strict and counting points (Weight Watchers). I don’t do well when I’m not held accountable- but it’s so annoying at the same time to have to weigh/measure/count everything that goes in my mouth! I’m trying really hard right now to just eat when I’m hungry and to eat until I’m full- and to keep it as healthy as I can. I really don’t want to go back to counting points again! I know what’s healthy and what’s not at this point- I just have to have some will power!
Good luck!
I am the exact same way – if I eat anything sweet or “bad” in the morning, it ruins the whole day! I really need to be held accountable too. Counting every calorie isn’t fun, but it’s all that works for me too! Good luck!
I totally struggle with the same thing. I am a sugar fiend and I have a hard time enjoying sweets in moderation. I am trying to find a sustainable solution to my up and down relationship with sweets, but have yet to find the right balance.
It’s hard! Let me know if you find anything that works!
That IS a cute tank top. Good find! I’ve never bought Costco’s workout clothes, but it’s funny you mention it, because just yesterday I was at Costco and noticed some yoga pants. They were very cute, but I wasn’t sure if the quality would be good. Interesting!
I am so the same way and I have been considering cutting out refined sugar. I just am not ready to commit to that yet. I see it my future though. We watched some of the amazing race last night. I didn’t know it was the first episode. I haven’t seen that show in a long time.
100% struggle with the sugar, once I start I CANNOT stop! I was a monster this weekend with candy & cookies, yikes! Agreed about not even starting, that nips it in the butt. Super-cute tank top!
I struggle with sugar too and overeating on the weekends. This past weekend I did so well. Trying to stay focused on some major upcoming events and that seems to be helping. I was so excited to find out that Amazing Race was on last night!! My favorite show!! My lunch was a homemade feta spinach wrap. So good!!
I saw those spinach wraps on your blog! I have to try them – they look delicious!!
You look great! I usually buy my workout clothes at Dick’s. The tank tops are a great find.
Thanks
My favv workout tank is actually from Dick’s!
I used to be ALL about sugar, until recently. I went on a detox last spring and cut everything except stevia, although I didn’t really use it. Ever since then, I RARELY have a severe craving for sugar. When I do have something sugary – it’s never quite as good as I remember and it doesn’t even satisfy me. I end up having the worst stomach cramps and regret eating it. It is all about baby steps and once you start reading the ingredients on some foods, you’ll be shocked at how much sugar is in EVERYTHING we eat. Nuts!
I hoping I’ll get to that point where I don’t crave sugar! I couldn’t believe how much sugar my yogurt has!
I know! It’s nuts! Definitely go for plain greek and just add in your own goodies instead. Fresh fruit tastes better anyhow.
I’m all about Nike workout clothes!
Awesome find on the tanks. I have to cut my sugar down too. I been eat so much junk and drink soda like crazy. that my face is paying the price for it in zits.
Heather, I just have to tell you; you look great! Even if you are still in your workout clothes, you can really tell the transform you’ve made over the past couple months. Keep it up
Thanks, Jessie!!
You may not like the photo but it sure shows off your definition!! Have you been working more with weights lately?
I lift things up, and I put them down (said in a bodybuilder voice)
That tank top looks so pretty on you! And it’s a great picture too
I am TOTALLY in the same boat as you with the sugar thing – I can NOT just eat one, I have to eat them until they’re all gone! If I have sugar anywhere in the house, it’s all I can think about until it’s gone! It’s so refreshing to hear that someone else is facing the exact same struggles
great post!
Thank you
I guess I shouldn’t keep sugar in the house but with all the candy from the holidays and two kids in the house, it’s hard! Good luck to you!
