Last night, we stopped at Target, and I bought the ingredients for the Jillian Michaels detox water/tea. I went to three different stores and Target was the only place that I found the dandelion tea bags and unsweetened cranberry juice.
Every time I picked up a bottle of juice that said “cranberry 100% juice”, it turned out to be a blend of four different juices. 100% juice yes, but not 100% cranberry juice. Go ahead and check next time you’re at the grocery store – 100% just cranberry juice is pretty hard to find, especially unsweetened. Even though the picture on the front of the bottles shows just cranberries, it’s not actually just cranberry juice most of the time.
Luckily, at Target, I found unsweetened organic just cranberry juice. Not so luckily, the juice was insanely expensive. $8.09 a bottle. For one bottle! Crazy!
I really debated buying it. Did I want to spend $8 on juice and $5 on tea bags?! In the end, I did up buy it (obviously). It was the only place I had seen both the dandelion tea bags and cranberry juice. It figured it would be a good experiment to try put. That way if it helps me lose weight, you can run out and spend $8 on cranberry juice too :)
Another thing – the Ocean Spray No Sugar Added Cranberry Juice (a blend of four juices) has 140 calories and 36 grams of sugar per 8 oz. serving. (And that’s the no sugar added version.)
The R.W. Knudsen Unsweetened Just Cranberry 100% Juice has 70 calories and only 8 grams of sugar per 8 oz. serving. I’m guessing that this is the cranberry juice that’s supposed to be used in the detox tea.
This darn tea better work because it wasn’t cheap. I plan on making the first batch on either Sunday or Monday morning. We’ll see how it goes!
Today’s Workout
- 3 miles, treadmill (3:4 interval)
- Stationary Bike – 12 minutes
I didn’t set my alarm for Boot Camp last night, and I told myself that if I woke up in time to make it, I would go, otherwise I’d just go to the gym when I woke up. I woke up at 7 am. Boot Camp starts are 7:10 am. I was glad that I slept though because I haven’t been sleeping well lately.
I got to the gym around 7:30 am and did a 3:4 interval workout on the treadmill. I walked three minutes, followed by four minutes of running for a total of three miles. After the treadmill, I hopped on the stationary bike for about 12 minutes. Today, I rode through the lost trails. There were a lot of palm trees and grass huts. It was nice.
When I was leaving the gym, a dentist’s office was there handing out toothbrushes for kids.
If you thought my kids wouldn’t be excited for toothbrushes, you’d be wrong. After fighting over who would get the floss, they sat on the couch watching cartoons and clutching their new toothbrushes.
Well, I off to finish baking some treats for Jaden’s party today! (And I really need to stop tasting so much of what I’m baking – it’s just so darn good!) Have a wonderful Saturday!
Questions of the day:
- What was the last thing you baked?
- Do you set an alarm on the weekends or just wake up naturally? What time?
- Any plans or workouts for today?

Okay–don’t think I’m crazy . . . but I set an alarm on the weekends . . . to tell when I’m allowed to get out of bed! Otherwise, I’d get up earlier, because I just naturally wake up way too early. So, this morning, for example, I was laying there waiting for the alarm to go off to know when I could get up. lol. I’m a nut.
That’s kind of a great idea…sometimes I’m up at 6am on weekends, and that’s way too early! But sometimes it’s only my quiet time before the kids get up! I don’t think you’re crazy – Ilike the idea!!
Have you ever had the unsweetened cranberry juice before? It’s an acquired taste! That stuff is hardcore.
I’ve been way too busy at work lately to bake as much as I’d like to, but the last thing I made was some really yummy espresso and dark chocolate bread pudding, using the leftovers from a loaf of cinnamon pumpkin spice bread I had made earlier in the week.
I’ve never had it – but it’s only 1 tbsp. per 60 oz of water, so I figure I won’t really be able to taste it. Maybe I take a swig to see how it tastes
Your bread pudding sounds delicious!
It’s always hard to resist trying the stuff your baking. I always end up getting a couple of spoonfuls or eating a cookie “to test it out”
I set an alarm every day! It helps me to wake up at the same time every day to keep my body on schedule.
I have to set an alarm on the weekend b/c of work. I don’t get to sleep and I hate it. I’m lucky and happy for the few days I do get to sleep in. I haven’t baked anything since Christmas.
I don’t think I’d be able to get the spoon out of that dough mixture.Yum!
I don’t ever set an alarm on the weekends, and for some reason I’m always up by 6AM… like today I woke up at 4:45.
I’m curious about your new tea. Looking forward to read what you think of it and if you think it works!
I just checked the bottle of “cranberry” juice I have. Turns out it’s cranberry, grape and apple. I never realized that before. Anyway, we had a great time at Jaden’s party. All the goodies were delicious!
That cranberry juice is sneaky!! Im glad you had a good time!
It had to be hard to fork over $8 for the juice… but I hope you get what you want out of it (and remember that Target is the WINNER! Ha! I love Target).
That birthday cookie batter looks delish!
Baked: a funfetti cake for my husband’s birthday
Alarm: I set one. I always need to be somewhere, it seems.
Today: 20 mile run
(www.nowirun.com)
20 miles – you are awesome!!!
That’s really cute how excited your kids were for their new toothbrushes.
