Getting Ready for the Weekend

Happy Friday! I hope you’re all enjoying your Friday afternoon – it’s almost the weekend!

I have been running around all day trying to get stuff done for Jaden’s birthday parties this weekend.

This morning started with a workout:

  • 3.15 miles treadmill, walked/jogged

I did not go to BodyPump this morning. I know, I know. I even felt my own forehead to see if I had a fever. I didn’t. I just wasn’t in a Body Pump mood this morning, which is pretty shocking since I haven’t missed a BodyPump class in forever.

Instead, I spent some time on the treadmill. I walked/jogged 3.15 miles before going to get my niece from the kid’s room. My quad is a lot better, but my calves have been tight lately, so I am slowly trying to ease back into running. I better get my butt in gear though because I have a couple of 5ks coming up, and I have to start training for the Biggest Loser 15k.

I was glad to get out of the gym a little earlier today because I have a lot stuff to do to get ready for the weekend. Jaden’s family party is tomorrow. Sunday, he has a dance at school and then his party with his friends from school at Chuck E. Cheese.

First, I stopped at the party store to order balloons and get a few party supplies.

Jaden doesn’t know it yet, but he’s having a lego themed party. Marlene is making awesome cupcakes for Jaden’s party at Chuck E. Cheese (I can’t wait for Jaden to see them!), so I thought I’d try my hand at making his birthday cake.

I found the cutest cake on the Betty Crocker website, but it’s a bit involved. The extent of my caking making skills are: open box, mix ingredients, pour in pan.

This cake is still a box mix cake, but it’s shaped like legos! I am going to try my hardest to make it, but if it comes out crazy then Danny is on stand-by to run to the grocery store and pick up a cake.

After the party store, we went to the grocery store to pick up the food and snacks for tomorrow.

And yes, that is Coke in my cart. I don’t drink pop (or soda!), but people at the party will. I actually got this in an email the other day that I found interesting:

Soda

I haven’t drank pop since September 14, 2009. Yes, I know the exact date! And since starting the Diet Bet, I don’t think Danny has drank any pop either, except on Super Bowl Sunday. I just personally don’t like drinking pop and prefer water, but I will admit that sometimes I smell Danny’s coke. Is that weird or what? It just smells so good. I also much rather eat my calories and sugar than drink them :)

This afternoon, I have to clean up a bit and clean off my desk. I keep putting it off and putting it off. My desk is pretty much a catch-all for all my stuff, and it gets pretty cluttered. I hate cleaning it, but it must be done!

I hope you have a great rest of your Friday afternoon and a wonderful weekend!

Questions of the day:

  • Do you call it pop or soda? I call it pop :)
  • Do you drink pop? What kind?
  • What’s your least favorite thing to clean?
  • Any plans this weekend?

  1. I call it soda! Boy, it’s been years though since I’ve had any. I just don’t even have a taste for it anymore.

Least favorite thing to clean: the carpet. Meaning, I don’t like to vacuum. Luckily, my husband doesn’t mind and takes care of it for us. :)

  2. It is soda. But since I am from the northeast it is actually pronounced soder. And I do drink it but mostly only when we are out. Very rarely at home. Caffeine free diet.
    Toilets. No question about it.
    No big plans really.

I think Pop is a Midwest thing. My friend in California laughed so hard, because that’s what they call getting a ticket/arrested…I got popped by the cops last night!

    • I think it is a Midwest thing. I’ve also heard that some places call pop “coke”. Like any pop. So when you go to a restaurant they say “what kind of coke do you want?” And then you say “sprite.” Its weird stuff.

In the South, we call or it “Coke” or “cold drink” :) “Pop” always sounds so funny to me! :)

  5. I call it soda. Even when we moved to Washington when I was a kid I couldn’t get into the habit of calling it pop. I am totally with you, I’d rather eat my calories than drink them.
