Yesterday
My Dad’s Workout
- 3.1 miles, elliptical
- Biceps and Triceps
My dad and stepmom went to the gym yesterday, and my dad made sure to tell me exactly what he did at the gym, and insisted that I include it on my blog. Being the wonderful daughter that I am, I complied.
Good job going to the gym, Dad! Now you just have to keep it up!
Yesterday afternoon, we meet my family for frozen yogurt. We even got my brother to come out!
He’s still in a lot of pain from his back surgery and has some trouble walking, but it’s good for him to get out of the house and it’s good for his back to walk a bit, even if it hurts.
I got a little bit of cake batter and Hawaiian pineapple frozen yogurt. And I didn’t get my normal hot fudge and candy toppings. I really tried to keep the calorie count reasonable, and I think I did.
Papa and Baby McGranddaughter practicing walking:
We usually go to Bamboo Spoon for frozen yogurt, and on the way there we saw that they’re building a Yogurtland about 10 minutes from our house! I am so excited for Yogurtland. Danny and I went once, but the closest one to us was an hour away. On second thought, a close Yogurtland might be a bad thing…
After eating our fro-yo, we stopped at World Market, where I found the best thing ever…
…a giant tootsie pop! I didn’t buy it because it didn’t have a stick. Who wants to eat a giant sucker without a stick?
Then, we came home, and I made quesadillas. Danny’s quesadilla had chicken, cheese, and a bit of green pepper.
Mine had cheese, red onion, green pepper, and I topped it with green onion, and had pineapple salsa and low-fat sour cream on the side. It was so good.
We spent the rest of the afternoon watching football. Joy.
Today
I’m pretty sure today will be spent watching football too…well, for Danny anyway.
Today’s Workout
- BodyPump – 60 minutes
- 1.25 miles treadmill, walked
My gym offers a “potluck” class every week. Last week, it was yoga and today it was BodyPump. I plan on doing BodyPump tomorrow too. I don’t usually do strength training two days in a row because typically your muscles need 48 hours to rest, rebuild, and repair, but with a $500 gym membership on the line, I made an exception.
I did use really light weights though, especially because my shoulder is still bothering me. Even with the light weights, I struggled a bit. After BodyPump, I walked on the treadmill for a little bit before coming home to eat breakfast.
Breakfast
I made an egg white omelet with broccoli, green pepper, red onion, green onions, and feta. It really hit the spot. I also had two pieces of toast with peanut butter and a clementine.
I just started reading The Secret Keeper for Julie’s book club, so I will probably spend the afternoon reading that while Danny watches football.
Have a great day!
Questions of the day:
- Are you a football fan? Favorite sport?
- Are you currently reading any books?
- Last book you read? Or magazine?

Good for your dad. I hope he keeps it up. My dad is in his seventies and still working out. just go to show that age is not a factor.
You are absolutely right!
Haha I wish my dad was that excited about going to the gym…
I can’t wait to get my book! I ordered it from the library but it hasn’t come in yet…
Oh ya and I’m reading Dishing with the Kitchen Virgin! It’s hilarious!
I’ll have to check that one out! I’m always looking for a new book!
Such an adorable photo of your dad and “McGrandDaugther”.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on Secret Keeper. I’ve been debating on whether or not to order a copy.
