Yesterday’s Evening Workout

  • 2.54 miles treadmill
  • Plank
  • 10 minutes stretching

Last night, my dad and stepmom came over so Danny and I could go to the gym.

It was really crowded, as it usually it in the evening, but we were able to find two open treadmills.

I alternated between walking at 4.1 mph and running at 7.1 mph for 30 minutes. After the treadmill, Danny and I decided to see who could hold a plank longer.

I won.

Danny held his plank for 1 minute and I held mine for 2 minutes and 4 seconds! I don’t do the plank very often except for at the end of BodyPump sometimes, so I was happy with two minutes. I think I’m going to do a plank every day and work on holding it longer. We finished up with about 10 minutes of stretching.

According to my BodyMedia Fit, I took a little over 18,000 steps yesterday!

Breakfast

Lately, I have been eating Special K and fruit for breakfast, but today I wanted to eat something a little more filling, so I had a bagel thin with two egg whites, cheese, blueberries, and a clementine.

And coffee. There must always be coffee. And gingerbread coffee mugs are perfectly acceptable to use after Christmas…right?

Today’s Workout

  • .6 mile, treadmill
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes

I know it’s a little bit ridiculous that sometimes I do such short distances on the treadmill, but I have been really trying to get in 10,000 steps every day, and some days when I do BodyPump, I don’t quite hit 10,000 steps. Even short distances on the treadmill help me get to my goal of 10,000 steps, and it’s a good warm-up for BodyPump. And really that was all I had time to squeeze in before BodyPump.

My right shoulder has been having problems since the summer. It’s fine most of the day, but I notice it’s sore the most during BodyPump and whenever I have to lift anything over my head (which is why I go lighter on the shoulder track). Today, we were doing the plank during BodyPump and my arm kind of gave out under me and I felt this pain in my shoulder. Great. Right when I thought it was getting better, this happens.

It definitely hurts, but it’s not excruciating. I am hoping that some Advil and ice will do the trick, but since it was already sore, I have a feeling that it’s going to be sore for quite a while. Damn.

Target

After the gym, I stopped at Target…for the third time this week. I kept forgetting to look for the new flavors of Chobani, so today I went just to look for them. Success!

I bought three of the new pear Chobani flavors - 140 calories and 14 grams of protein. I also bought the Chobani Bites in Pineapple Caramel – how delicious does that sound?! The Chobani Bites only have 100 calories and 8 grams of protein. I can’t wait to try one with lunch!

Tonight, we’re going to Bingo night at Jaden’s school, and we actually have no other set plans this weekend – very nice for a change!

Questions of the day:

  • What was your last injury? How do you deal with injuries?
  • Do you like yogurt? Favorite brand? Flavor?
  • Any plans or workouts for this weekend?

  1. I bought the raspberry with chocolate, Chobani bites a couple weeks ago and they were delicious. You will have to let me know how the pineapple caramel tastes because I had a hard time deciding between the raspberry and pineapple.

  2. I love greek yogurt. my favorite is mango! I am doing a chobani giveaway today! Get it on it!

last and current injury, a sprained ankle….rest (ugh), ice, wrapped it to keep the swelling down and elevation. It’s getting better…thank goodness. Try icing your shoulder, it should help.

  4. Great job on the plank! I did an av workout last night and it hurts to cough today. LOL.

  5. Would love to hear the bingo night details! Sounds fun :)

  6. I love chobani! I bought blood orange! Yum!

  7. Those new flavors sound awesome!!

  8. I live in the UK and can’t get hold of Chobani. In fact, there aren’t that many varieties of healthy, low-fat Greek yoghurt. I just go for plain Greek or natural yoghurt, and sweeten it up with a drop or two of honey! Although it sounds like your refrigerator is much more exciting than mine :P great post, I hope your shoulder gets better!

  9. I haven’t eaten cereal, seriously, in years. I think I should start buying some flakes. This organic cereal makes the best flakes I’ve ever had, and now I can’t remember what they are called!

  10. Congrats on the fantastic plank! I think I could beat my boyfriend in a plank contest too…ha ha! Some coworkers were talking about the new Chobani coffee flavors, so I need to hit up Super T and check it out!
