Goodies

I was up bright and early this morning…before Danny’s alarm even went off at 5am. I just couldn’t sleep. I finally crawled out of bed and went downstairs to my coffee maker a little before 6am. I’m sure I’ll pay for it later.

I must say that I am proud of Danny for going to the gym at 5:30 am every morning. So far, he has gotten up every day this week to workout. I think his incentive is saving over $500 on two gym memberships if we win the Fantasy Fitness League.

Danny and I are also officially weighed in for the DietBet. We both submitted our pictures and weights. I have to lose about 6 pounds and Danny has to lose about 9 pounds. The weekends are going to be the biggest challenge. I always mention it, but I eat healthy during the week, and then kind of tend to go overboard on the weekends.

I hoping that if I can keep my weekend eating under control, I’ll be able to lose the 6 pounds. Don’t forget, if you’re signed up for DietBet, I would love to hear how you’re doing!

Goodies

Yesterday, I signed up for The Goodies Co.Taster’s Box.

It’s a monthly subscription, and each month the company sends you a box of 5-8 samples of different healthy or organic foods.

From their website:

For just a $7/month subscription including taxes and shipping, the Goodies Co. box features 5-8 delicious new foods hand-picked and delivered directly to your doorstep. You get to receive a surprise every month, sample new foods and expand your palate without breaking the bank. We always try to include a wide variety of foods, from healthy, organic, artisan, and international.

Then, if you like the sample, you can buy the full-sized products. I think it’ll be a great way to try some new foods.

The best part is that it’s only $7 a month with shipping. It’s comparable to NatureBox which I have been wanting to try, but didn’t want to pay $20 a month.

The only bad part was that once I signed up on the Goodies Co. website, it took a month for me to get an “invitation” to actually purchase the box. I think they just started with the Goodies boxes and have had an overwhelming response. But I’m excited to get my first box and see what’s in it!

Breakfast

This morning, I had a serving of Special K protein cereal with almond milk, a clementine, and pear slices.

Today’s Workout

  • Step Class – 60 minutes

I was bold in Step class today – I used two risers instead of one. Not the best idea since I almost fell off multiple times. But since I learned that using two risers instead of one burns more calories, I was all over that second riser.

This is what the step and risers looks like if you’re not familiar with it:

We use the same step for BodyPump and Step Class.

After the gym, my niece and I ran some errands, and while we were out my stepmom called and asked if we wanted to meet at Panera for lunch, so we met up. I order the same thing at Panera almost every time – a half a Mediterranean veggie sandwich with no tomatoes and half a Caesar salad with dressing on the side.

A few days ago, my stepmom texted me and offered to watch the kids tonight so Danny and I could go to the gym. I think I responded with a big fat yes within 30 seconds. If someone if offering to watch three kids, I’m not going to turn them down. So, my dad and stepmom are going to come over tonight to stay with the kids while we go workout. Another two points towards our Fantasy Fitness! Thanks, Dad and Sue!

Danny and I go to the gym together once in a while, but we always do our separate thing. We don’t exercise together. So, I thought it would be fun if we did, and I’m going to look up some partner exercises online. Does anyone have any good partner workouts to share?

Have a nice afternoon!

Questions of the day:

  • Do you ever workout with a friend or significant other?
  • What did you have for breakfast?
  • Do you tend to order the same things at restaurants or try different things?

I am all signed up for dietbet and need to lose about 6.5 pounds. I will be focusing on limiting soda and coffee (once per week), sticking to 1200-1500 calories a day depending on workouts and trying to make healthy choices on the weekends, which is sometimes challenging for me.

I hate doing “diets” where results will never last. I try to make concessions where possible but still live a fun life :)

  3. I only like working out with someone else when I am doing cardio. When it comes to weight training I like to go it alone. I like to get in my zone and not wait for someone to finish reps/sets, ect.

I have submitted my weight and pics to Diet Bet and I am excited to get started. I was already down 1.2 pounds today so hopefully it stays that way. I am trying to drink lots of water and green tea to keep myself from snacking. It isn’t my meals that do me in but the snacking can sometimes get out of hand, especially in the afternoon.

This is great! Good luck with the challenge :) I am a firm believer that there is a healthier recipe of every “bad” food that I crave. I have been on a pancakes kick in the morning…normally that would be a splurge but I made them with 1 egg ,1 egg white and a banana. They are sooo good and totally clean.
I have so many healthy tips over at SoFitandSoGreen.blogspot.com
I’m loving your blog and can’t wait to read more :)
