I finally stepped on the scale this morning. I haven’t weighed myself since before Christmas because I was nervous about what the number would be. I’m glad that I joined the DietBet because I feel like I would have just continued to put off weighing myself because I didn’t want to see the number. And that’s how I ended up gaining the 30+ pounds that I recently lost – by not weighing myself.
I know that some people don’t agree with weighing themselves a lot, and go by how their clothes fit and such rather than placing your worth on a number on the scale. But for me personally, weighing myself a few times a week helps keep me accountable. If I don’t, my weight slowly starts to creep up.
I am happy (and surprised) to say that I weigh exactly what I did before Christmas!
I know that I gained weight around the holidays, but this past week of eating right and sticking to my daily calorie count helped me lose a few pounds I think.
While I am happy that I weigh the same, I think it’s going to make the DietBet a little bit harder. I only weigh two pounds more than weight that I am unable to drop below. My weight has hit a plateau at a certain number for months that I can’t drop below, and the DietBet requires me to lose approximately 6 pounds, so that is going to be a very hard challenge.
Six pounds might not sound like a lot to lose in four weeks, but when I’ve only been able to lose two more pounds than I weight now, six pounds will be difficult. But I’m up for the challenge!
The other day I went to the grocery store and I came across this Special K protein water mix.
I drink one cup of coffee in the morning and the rest of the day I drink water. That’s it. I love water, but sometimes it gets a little boring. Since I’m always looking for ways to get in extra protein, I thought these protein drink mixes would kill two birds with one stone – extra protein and flavored water.
One packet has 30 calories and 5 grams of protein. I’m excited to try them out.
Today’s Workout
- 2.64 miles, treadmill
I had limited time at the gym this morning because we had to go to a doctor appointment, so I tried to make the best of my time by doing a HIIT workout. I walked at 4.0 for one minute and ran at 7.1 for one minute for a total of 30 minutes. I wasn’t able to go to BodyPump this morning, but I hope to go to yoga tonight.
I wore my new Mizunos to run:
For an afternoon snack, I had a Clif bar that I found in my purse from when we went to the museum.
Sorry I ate your Clif bar, Danny.
I stopped at Target this afternoon, and was excited to find these mini Clif Builder bars with 140 calories and 10 grams of protein.
I really like the Builder bars, but rarely eat them because a full size bar has 270 calories which is a little bit too much for one bar for me.
Later this afternoon, I’m going to bring my brother home from the hospital. He is finally being released today. And even though he’s still in a decent amount of pain, it’ll be nice for him to be at home.
I just have to share these pictures of my niece because she is so funny. As soon as Danny gets home from work, she wants him to pick her up so that she can hug her reflection in the mirror.
After she hugs herself in the mirror a few times, she goes and gets the picture of herself and hugs that too! It’s so darn cute and funny!
Have a great day!
Questions of the day:
- Do you weigh yourself often? Not at all?
- What do you usually rink during the day?
- Do you eat granola/protein bars?
- Any workout today?

Baby mc Cutie is a doll baby!!!
I love Builder’s bars, but I agree they are little higher in calories than I like. My husband eats them, so I always steal bites of his. Finding mini-bars is awesome! I can’t wait to find them myself!
I’m the same way – I always steal bites of Danny’s bars!
I try not to weigh myself
I love Special K products, I want to try this
Does it have a lot of sugar in it?
I’m usually really bad about checking the sugar, but I checked for these and they 0 grams of sugar! No sugar!
I try not to weigh myself anymore, well I cant because the scale was hidden from me I became to obsessive so I just measure my self. I love the running shoes…
I feel like I get the sane way – too obsessed! I’m trying to find a healthy balance!
I don’t weigh often but due to Diet Bet I will start weighing a couple times per week. I need it right now since I am getting serious about taking off a few pounds!!
I usually check-in about once a week, sometimes longer. I can usually tell by my clothes though. Awesome job on maintaining through the holidays! I’m with you on coffee in the am & then mostly H20 the rest of the day. Got in a good strength & cardio circuit this morning. Happy Wednesday!
I haven’t weighed myself in about two years! My clothes still fit so I don’t really see the point.
Honestly, I weight myself everyday…I know it sounds obsessive but when I finally reach my goal weight I think that’s when I will stop! Right now I’m at the point of losing excess water and all that so I’m trying to figure out what my true weight is. No workout for me today because it was a rest day although I ran around a lot at work so it didn’t actually feel like much of a rest day. During the day I usually have a glass of milk with breakfast and then water or water with crystal light mixes throughout the day!
Special K has drink mixes now? Oh man.. I move to Kuwait & more & more awesome products keep coming out!
I do weigh myself several times a week because then it is not a big surprise when things start creeping up. You can make more small, immediate adjustments.
I hope your brother is recovering well and that his back feels better soon.
The Kidless Kronicles
Your niece is so cute! Also, I like to weigh myself regularly just to make sure everything is normal.
I weigh myself on Thursday mornings. It is just a reality check for me. I normally drink water, hot tea and sometimes coffee. I love the pictures of Baby McCutie hugging herself!!
I do weigh myself several times a week. Like you I was lucky enough to end December at the same weight I started! I kept a food log for most of the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, that helped. Though I have now stopped, probably should start that up again. I got some of the Builder’s Bars for our exchange student who likes them and did start eating them myself (didn’t mean to). They taste good, but are not something I will buy again due to the palm kernel oil in them. I do buy the Cliff Kidz Bars, they have somewhat less sugar and no palm kernel oil, and I eat them sometimes (they are supposed to be for my teens). Larabars are the main energy bar that I have.
Good job with maintaining your weight over the holidays! It’s hard. I love kid’s Clif bars too – I always eat my kid’s!
