We had a great time ringing in the New Year with my family this year!
We started out at La Campana, a local Mexican restaurant for dinner. From there, we went back to my dad and Sue’s house. Marlene made these adorable chocolate covered strawberries for dessert.
I made a confetti cake.
My stepmom came up with this cute idea:
It’s an ice bucket top hat with a mini bottle of champagne for each couple for a midnight toast. How cute is that?!
First up was our New Year’s Eve party hats. This year we all came up with our own ideas for a hat. There were a lot of great ideas and cute New Year themed hats.
Everyone in their hats:
My dad’s hat was the New Year’s baby on a cloud. That thing was heavy!
Go big or go home:
My stepmom had some great games planned. She found this idea on Pinterest where you put little slips of paper into balloons. On each slip on paper is a game to play. Every hour until midnight, you pop one balloon and play the game inside. It was a lot of fun.
Some of the games included dancing:
Some games included picking up cards off the ground as fast as you could in a minute:
And some games included your family calling you a cheater because you won…twice.
I won fair and square, I might add.
Papa and Baby McNew Year hanging out. I love the look on her face.
After the games, we opened out time capsule from the past two years. We went through the stuff, and then added our stuff from this year.
Before we know it, 2013 was here!
It was a great night, and we had a lot of fun!
Today’s Workout
- BodyPump – 60 minutes
I started wearing my new BodyMedia armband today.
It was really easy to set up on the computer. I just made an account and each night I can plug in it and it will transfer the data to the computer so I can review it. It measures calories burned, steps takes, and how much I sleep. I can go online and add the food I ate and the calories I consumed.
I can’t wait to see how it goes.
This afternoon, my brother is getting back surgery so we’re off to the hospital to visit and pick up my niece. Hopefully all goes well.
Questions of the day:
- Favorite dessert?
- Any workout today?
- Have you ever had surgery?

Love the hats and balloon game idea! Those strawberries look delicious. I’d have to say my favorite dessert is frozen yogurt with lots of toppings.
Me too! I love fro yo, especially the toppings!
I don’t know how many times I can comment (I hope you dont mind!) on how much I love reading the posts about your family parties. Too. Much. Fun.
Thanks for commenting! I love them!
Sending good vibes your brothers way!! Hopefully he will feel better very soon.
I have had several surgeries…I had my tonsils out at 17 and 2 C-Sections. Not fun. Hoping I don’t have any more for a VERY long time!!
I had my tonsils out when i was 23 and it was horrible! Were you an adult or younger?
Sounds like a fun NYE!
Can I please be invited to your next party???
Sure!
Looks like you had an awesome time
