Happy 12-12-12! For some reason my kids seem to think that since it’s 12-12-12 we’re having some kind of party. We’re not. But maybe we should with 12-21-12 approaching and all.

Today I thought it would be fun to do the Christmas Survey that I saw on Fit Minded Mom’s blog. You can also check out my Christmas Survey from last year.
1. Favorite Christmas Album/CD/Song?
I actually love the Jessica Simpson Christmas CD that I got at 7-Eleven years and years ago. One of my favorite Christmas songs is Do You Hear What I Hear?
2. Exercise on Christmas morning or take the day off?
I DO NOT exercise on Christmas. I might have went to the gym on Thanksgiving, but Christmas is different. Our day is very busy – from opening presents with the kids, to going to my in-laws, to going to dinner at my Mom’s house. Christmas is a day of spending time with my family.
3. What do you usually eat on Christmas morning?
It’s different every year. Sometimes cinnamon rolls, sometimes pancakes. This year, I’ve been looking on Pinterest for some good breakfast ideas.
4. . Favorite holiday or Christmas tradition?
I love everything about Christmas! But my very favorite part is waking up on Christmas morning. We get the kids and go downstairs to see if Santa came! The kids open their stockings first, and then we move on to the presents. I also love going to see Christmas lights, watching A Charlie Brown Christmas, decorating the Christmas tree, baking cookies, and getting together with my family Christmas Eve.
5. Real tree, fake tree or no tree?
Real tree! We go with my family to cut down a real tree every year. I always had a real tree growing up. I guess that’s another Christmas tradition I love – cutting down the perfect tree. One year we had a fake tree and it was a sad sad tree.
6. Christmas pajamas… yay or nay?
When the kids were little, I bought them cute pajamas every year. I have kind of been slacking on that. I don’t wear cute pajamas on Christmas morning. In fact, I try to avoid being photographed at all…I don’t look my best in the morning
7. Where do you spend the holidays? Your own house, your parents’ house, extended family, in-laws, friends?
With in-laws and divorced parents, our holidays are sometimes crazy. But we finally have things pretty much down pat. On Christmas Eve, we go to my Grandparent’s house along with my dad, step-mom, brother, and sister-in-law (and more family). On Christmas Day, we spend the morning at home with the kids, then we head to my in-laws house. We go to my mom’s house for Christmas dinner along with my brother, sister-in-law, and niece. Some years, we come to our house, but I always see my mom Christmas Day. I always see my dad and step-mom the weekend following Christmas. It’s actually fun that way because it’s like Christmas is extended!
8. Food that you always have during the holiday season? Favorite Christmas food/treat?
I don’t have one specific food that I always have – usually just Christmas cookies and Christmas dinner. My favorite Christmas treat is anything peppermint or chocolate!
Cookie recipe here.
Candy cane heart instructions here.
9. Open presents all at once or take turns? Stockings… yes or no?
On Christmas morning, the kids always open the little gifts in their stocking first. They do this at the same time. Then, Danny usually passes out presents one or two at a time. I feel like Christmas morning always flies by, so I like to drag it out a bit and make it last. We always end up opening presents fairly quickly though. The kids get very excited!

10. Favorite Christmas(ish) movie?
I love A Charlie Brown Christmas. I have never seen A Wonderful Life, and I hope to watch it this year.
