I’m glad that it’s the end of the week, but I’m a little bit nervous for the Hot Cocoa 5k tomorrow. I PR’d at my last 5k, so I am feeling more pressure to run fast, and I don’t want to feel like that. I liked it when I was a slow runner because then it didn’t really matter, but now that I ran one race fast, I feel like now I always have to run fast.
Running is hard for me, even short distances, and I like to do it have fun, not to feel like I have to beat myself, time-wise. I just want to run at my own pace, have fun with my family, and try not to freeze. I’m not going out tomorrow to run fast or beat my previous time, I’m running tomorrow so that I can drink hot cocoa.
Now that that’s off my chest…
- 1.1 miles – pink treadmill
- BodyPump – 35 minutes
I wore my new t-shirt from Around The Plate that I received for attending a virtual blog conference. It’s so cute, and I just love it. When Jaden saw it this morning, he asked me if it was scratch and sniff. I told him no, but it darn well should be!
It’s funny that he associates fruit that has faces with scratch and sniff.
I was only able to stay for about half of BodyPump today because I went on a field trip with Jaden’s kindergarten class to the Fire Station this morning.
We been to the fire station tons of times (my brother-in-law is also a firefighter), but this time they actually got an emergency call while we were there, which was kind of cool for the kids to see.
The firefighter was in the middle of explaining the fire tools to the kids when the fire bells went off and all the firefighters rushed out and into the fire trucks and ambulances in like 5 seconds flat. Then, we were all just left standing there all alone, so we let the kids all sit in the fire truck.
After the field trip, I ran some errands. Tomorrow, after the 5k, we’re getting together with my family for our annual pumpkin carving and Halloween food party night. My aunt and uncle even came in from California (I told you Halloween is a big deal in our family).
Danny and I have our food dishes picked out, but I can’t tell you what they are yet because we keep everything secret until we all get together. Since we won’t have tons of time tomorrow after the race, they’re fairly simple and cutesy Halloween dishes. I also picked up some pumpkins for us to carve tomorrow!
Unfortunately, the pumpkin harvest wasn’t that great this year, so I had to grab the only pumpkins I could find. I got small pumpkins for Jaden and me. I love Halloween, but I don’t really enjoy pumpkin carving too much. My dad, however, spends hours on his pumpkins. Here’s a few past pumpkins:
We usually hollow them out prior to getting together because it saves a bunch of time. Danny will hallow and clean them out tonight. Pumpkin guts actually give me a rash on my hands, so I leave that stuff up to Danny.
On the way home from the store, I dug into some candy corn mix.
I can take or leave candy corn. I don’t dislike it, but I don’t love it either. It’s just very sweet and sugary, which is weird coming from me since me and sugar are BFFs. I much prefer a Halloween Reece’s pumpkin. Now, those are delicious!
I am also really, really, really looking forward to Sunday because my sister-in-law, Crystal, has been planning a fun Halloween Amazing Race-type game for us to play. And no offense my other family members, but Danny and I are going to kick butt!!
Want to know what our team name is? It’s Tick Tick Boom.
Want to know why? It’s because we’re DYNOMITE!
Oh my goodness, sometimes I am crazy-lame. Or just crazy…
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Questions of the day:
- If you run races, do you feel pressure to run fast? I know they’re called races for a reason, I just wondered if you put pressure on yourself?
- Candy Corn: yay or nay? Favorite Halloween candy?
- Do you carve pumpkins?
- Any plans this weekend?
