A Little of Something Real

It’s no secret that I love peanut butter. A lot.

I usually measure out my peanut butter by the tablespoonful, otherwise I would eat half the jar. No joke. Except usually that tablespoon turns into a heaping tablespoon or a tablespoon plus three more scoops right from the peanut butter jar directly into my mouth because those don’t count, right?

So, whenΒ I saw this Better’n Peanut Butter made with real peanuts for only 100 calories for two tablespoons, I was sold.

Until I tasted it.

It tasted gross. It didn’t taste like peanut butter. It tasted like gross butter. (No offense if you love Better’n Peanut Butter, but I don’t).

Lesson Learned: It’s better to have a little bit of the real thing than it is to have a lot of the fake thing.

Anyone want a jar of Better’n Peanut Butter? Only opened once.

After I got over my disappointment, I made a snack with real peanut butter.

Apple ring slices with peanut butter and granola. They were so good, especially with the honeycrisp apple.

I also found this new Extra Dessert Delights gum in rainbow sherbet. Yes, please.

It was good but not as good as some of the other flavors of the Extra dessert gum…which the dentist told me to stop chewing all day long. Which I told her to mind her own business. Except I only said it in my head.

It’s funny because a few days after I went to the dentist, I was reading the new issue of Health magazine and it talked about the benefits of chewing gum.

It reduces stress. It sharpens focus. And it curbs cravings. So there, Dr. Dentist. Chewing gum will make me less stressed, more focused, and skinny. I knew magic was real.

Today’s Workout

  • 1 mile treadmill, walked
  • BodyPump – 60 minutes

I got to the gym a little before Body Pump this morning, but my calves have been sore lately, so I just walked one slow mile on the treadmill. I have plans to meet up with the Biggest Losers tonight to run, so I wanted to take it easy on my legs this morning, not that Body Pump is exactly easy on the legs.

  1. I agree, the real thing is almost always better in smaller quantities. Sorry that it turned out to be no good but at least I will know not to pick any up!

    I love apple slice sandwiches!! I usually add peanut butter and dark chocolate chips but the granola is a great idea, too!!

    Try PB2. You will not be disappointed.   3. I totally agree with you . . . I tried the Better ‘n Peanut Butter and couldn’t stand it. Yuck. I do use peanut flour pretty often–and really like it. Someone else suggested PB2–I used to buy that as well–very good–it’s just peanut flour with a little added salt and sugar. Whole Foods in Schaumburg now sells it (top shelf above all the other PB’s). πŸ™‚ The peanut flour I have to order online.

  6. hilarious post! ahhh my precious peanut butter…however its cousin almond butter and I are bffs these days, every morning on toast for bfast πŸ™‚ Reece Witherspoon eats the same thing every morning, should we form a club? Wanted to let you know in case you like it…pumpkin spice coffeemate is out this week! sugar free version available this year! Enjoying coffee with it this dreary rainy afternoon….trying to pump myslef up to do Jillian Michaels 30 day shred before the kids get home ha πŸ™‚

  7. AGREED on all counts regarding peanut butter (I eat way too much of it, and better ‘n peanut butter is certainly not even close to as good as peanut butter). And the little apple sandwiches look awesome πŸ™‚

    Okay, I am a serious gum chewer from way back. Then came a time when I put my gum aside for a long time. Then my dentist told me I was grinding my teeth at night. So I got this bright idea to chew gum before bed. I actually tired out my gums from all the chewing that I stopped grinding my teeth while I slept. Score one for the Gum!
