Fall Fitness 5k and The Biggest Loser Finale

Fall Fitness 5k – complete. Biggest Loser – complete.

I can’t believe the Biggest Loser is over. I feel like these 12 weeks just flew by and I’m really going to miss all the other contestants. It was such a good group.

I woke up at 5 am this morning, and got to the gym about 5:45 am. I was weighed and measured. I didn’t lose any weight (which I expected) but I did lose inches, and my body fat is down to 22%. So, I am happy about that.

From there, we all went to where the race was starting. Danny, the kids, my stepmom, and dad showed up a little while after I got there.

All the Biggest Loser contestants stretched together and then we were off!

About five of us starting out running together, but by mile two I couldn’t maintain the pace anymore and me and another lady, Tressie, dropped back a little bit. I am so glad that I had Tressie to run with. She put it best when she said, we were feeding off of each other’s positivity. As bad as I wanted to walk, I kept running because Tressie kept running. And as bad as Tressie wanted to walk, she kept running because I kept running.

My average 5k time is between 35 and 36 minutes. This was my time today:

My official time was 31:20. I was soooo happy!  My family was shocked when they saw me start to approach the finish line at 31 minutes. I took almost 4 minutes off my average time! It might not be very fast for you fast runners, but for me, it was awesome!

My shoulder was annoying during the race but not exactly painful. I wore my calf sleeves and luckily my calves weren’t too bad.

Tressie ended up coming in first place for her age group (54-59, I think), and I was so happy for her. Everyone did an awesome job.

Danny ran the race too, and he killed it, finishing in 25 minutes!

My brother, sister-in-law, and niece also came to show support. I love my family, and was glad that everyone could come to see me PR!

After the race, they announced the top three winners for the Biggest Losers, and I was very happy for the winners. They really deserved it. I felt sad leaving because the Biggest Loser is over, but I said that I would still be showing up Wednesday nights, if anyone wanted to continue to work out.

Thank you to my family for showing up and supporting me. Thank you to the Biggest Loser contestants for being such an awesome group of people. Thank you to all the trainers and instructors for pushing me to do my best. And a big thank you to Tressie for running with me all the way to the end.

Oh, and afterwards, I got my pumpkin muffin. :)

    Awesome job on the PR! And a PR is important to you & your goals, way to beat your time! I ran a 5K Sunday $ my goal was to run the entire thing-I did & felt decent doing it. Sounds like you had a great weekend!

  14. Thank you so much for this great post. I know Im a bit late but just read this for the first time. I read a lot of runners blogs and most of them are so speedy. It is very encouraging to read about less speedy runners that are still committed. Dont hesitate to post your times.
