Yesterday’s Evening Workout
- Cardio Dance – 45 minutes
I went. I danced. I came home.
Today
This morning started out with some calf sleeves and coffee.
I woke up at about 5 am because my calves were so sore. So, I did what any normal person would do – I played Plants vs. Zombie on my phone until about 6am, and then I rolled out of bed to put my calves sleeve on. Then, I really needed coffee.
Hello, butter toffee coffee. You make my mornings so much better.
Today’s Workout
- BodyPump
BodyPump pretty much wasn’t fun this morning. At all. Not only are my calves super sore, but my shoulder is hurting a lot. After Danny and I did the Muddy Buddy a couple of months ago, my shoulder starting bothering me a bit. Well, lately it has gotten a lot worse, and today was the worst.
So, during Body Pump, I lifted really light weights and skipped the push-ups. I think my body is telling me that I need to rest, but I have the last Biggest Loser workout tonight. Here’s what my plan is for the next few days:
- Wednesday – Biggest Loser workout (take it easy!) and 5k prep
- Thursday – Walk approx. 3 slow miles
- Friday – Off/Rest
- Saturday – Fall Fitness 5k (biggest loser finale!)
Hopefully, taking it easy on Thursday and Friday will help me be rested for the race on Saturday.
Breakfast
I made another peach pumpkin oatmeal parfait this morning. So delicious!
Only this time, I topped it with about a tablespoon of granola with almonds. The soft oatmeal and the crunchy granola really gave it a nice texture contrast.
I’ve decided that after the 5k on Saturday there’s only one thing that I want to do – eat a pumpkin muffin and drink coffee. Okay, I guess that’s actually two things.
I never drink coffee before a race, so by the end of the race, I’m wishing that they gave out cups full of coffee rather than water!
Questions of the day:
- What time do you usually wake up during the week? On the weekends?
- Do you drink coffee before you run/race?
- Where can I get the best pumpkin muffin?

I wake up at 6:45 during the week, and on the weekends usually about 7:30. Starbucks used to have really amazing pumpkin muffins with cream cheese. I don’t know if they still do.
I’m going to check Starbucks for those muffins!
Is there a prize for the earliest riser?
I get up at 3:57 am every weekday. Yes :57, b/c those extra three minutes keep me from running late. And I have an Americano (one shot of espresso with hot water–which is actually less caffeine than a cup of coffee) before working out . . . Gotta have it!
You should definitely win a prize! 3:57 is crazy early!! What time do you go to bed at night?
3:57am?!! I don’t think I could function! What time do you go to bed?
I’m in bed before 9:00. Usually 8:30.
Do you work out most days of the week? I think rest days are important and actually help your body see better results than over training.
I normally get up at 6am-6:30 on weekdays in order to get my kids off to school on time. Saturdays I get to sleep in until 7:30 or 8. I so look forward to that every weekend!!
Always drink coffee before running. Gotta empty out
LOL
I get up at 4:50 on weekdays and 5:30 on weekends. My baby is on a pretty strict schedule, but I’ve honestly always been an early riser. I love squeezing in a morning run on weekends. I save my coffee as a reward for afterwards.
Hmmm….pumpkin muffins!
