Yesterday afternoon, we went to my grandparent’s house to celebrate Marlene’s birthday.
There was so much delicious food. I indulged, but I don’t think that I went too overboard.
Even though, I am not a tomato fan, I tried the bruschetta because it looked delicious. I was surprised at how much I liked it, since I don’t really like tomatoes.
My grandpa made beer can chicken on the grill, which Danny said was fabulous.
I ate salmon, which was cooked in a grilling basket. So good.
And the night isn’t complete without a little love from Baby McCutie. She gave Danny a ten minute hug. It was so sweet.
My dad took the guys outside to show them some new frisbee golf techniques. Frisbee golf, also known as disc golf, is a sport that my dad recently discovered and has been playing.
From the PDGA website:
Disc golf is played much like traditional golf. Instead of a ball and clubs, however, players use a flying disc, or Frisbee®. A golf disc is thrown from a tee area to a target which is the “hole”.
As a player progresses down the fairway, he or she must make each consecutive shot from the spot where the previous throw has landed. The trees, shrubs, and terrain changes located in and around the fairways provide challenging obstacles for the golfer. Finally, the “putt” lands in the basket and the hole is completed. Disc golf shares the same joys and frustrations of traditional golf, whether it’s sinking a long putt or hitting a tree halfway down the fairway.
My dad really likes it, and Danny has played a couple of times with him. They don’t ask me to play because apparently they think that girls can’t play frisbee golf. That’s dumb. They’re probably just scared that I’ll kick their butts. Actually, they just leave me at home to watch the kids.
A birthday party isn’t complete without cake. Since Marlene is a professional dessert chef (is that the proper name for it?), my Grandpa decided that he would bake her a cake since she’s the one always baking. It was his first cake that he made all my himself and it came out delicious! Jaden did help by putting stars on the top of the cake.
It was three layers of chocolate and one layer of vanilla with French butter cream frosting. Amazing!
And cake isn’t complete without ice cream.
That slow churned ice cream sure is delicious.
It was a great night celebrating with family!
