Last night when Danny came home from work, we went to National Night Out in a nearby town. There was tons of people there and lots of activities. It was the best National Night Out that we’ve been to so far.
When we got there, the first thing I saw was the Dunkin’ Donuts sample van which was giving out free samples of iced coffee.
Then we got some food. There was hot dogs, chips, popcorn, and water.
I brought my salad with to eat, but I did eat a couple of chips and a few pieces of popcorn. After we ate, I waited in line with the kid’s to get ice cream. I didn’t plan on getting an ice cream but then I saw that they had Skinny Cow ice cream cones, and took that as a sign that I should eat one.
I looked up the calories in the ice cream cone when I got home and was surprised that it was only 150 calories with 4 grams of protein.
Jaden liked his ice cream, I think.
Next, we walked around with the kids and played some games. Danny spun the prize wheel from a local radio station and won a prize. He was so sweet and got me the Lorax bag that I wanted. He also said that I better mention it on my blog how nice he was to get it for me. Thanks, Danny.
I may or may not have entered a watermelon eating contest.
Okay, I totally entered one with a bunch of kids and lost miserably. That kid on the end was completely done with his watermelon while I was only on my third bite.
The kids had a lot of fun doing different activities. They both broke a board with their hands.
They did the potato sack race together. Jaden won by a nose. Literally, because he threw himself across the finish line at the last second and landed face first on the ground.
They also panned for gold, which I thought was kind of cool.
The best part was Jaden milking a cardboard cow. I think he would have milked that cow all night if I let him.
We finished up by watching some of the BMX biking. These guys do amazing tricks.
The kids both bought a poster for a $1 to get autographed by the BMX bikers.
Even though Jaden had a poster, he thought it would be a better idea to get his arm autographed. Whatever.
Questions of the day:
- Did you go to National Night Out last night?
- Can you do a flip in the air on your bike? I cannot.
- Any plans for today?
