Saturdays Make Me Eat A Lot

Yesterday was a hard eating day for me – I over ate and ate tons of unhealthy food. Not just a small treat or a piece of pizza, but enough to feed an entire football team…for a week. Okay, I might be slightly exaggerating, but I did have a really bad eating day yesterday.

I feel like I say the same thing every Sunday. But Saturday really is the hardest day of the week for me. And once I eat one unhealthy thing, I seem to throw everything out the window and overeat. It really makes me upset because I work so hard during the week, eating good (with small treats that fit into my calorie range), and exercising, and then when the weekend comes I end up eating more than I did during the whole week!

Am I happy that I indulged way too much yesterday? No. Am I working on my Saturday binge eating problem? Yes. Is today a new day and a chance to eat healthy? Yes.

I will try not to dwell on yesterday and move on, but I will remember how I felt when I over ate, so I can make better choices today.

We went to two family get-togethers yesterday. First, we went to Danny’s aunt’s house, and I even made a healthy salad to bring so that I wouldn’t eat too many unhealthy foods. Yeah, that didn’t work at all. The salad was good though.

And it was super easy to make – romaine lettuce, sliced strawberries, blueberries, and candied walnuts. I also bought the Lite House poppy seed dressing to try.

We were at Danny’s aunts most of the afternoon, where I ate my body weight in brownies. Then, we went over to my dad and step-mom’s house, where I ate my body weight in rice krispy treats. My brother and sister-in-law were there – they just got back from Iowa.

Do you see that scary guy in the background? (We actually call him Scary Guy, like that’s his name). He is in my dad’s basement year round. Slightly creepy, I know. But if you’ve been a reader for a while, then you might know that my dad is obsessed with Halloween. In a total normal non-creepy way, of course.

My dad and I last night:

My brother and sister-in-law just got back from visiting friends in Iowa, so I haven’t seen my niece in a while. I was going through McCutie withdrawals, so I decided it would be best to bring her home with us last night. Plus, I’m sure Paul and Crystal enjoyed being able to sleep in this morning.

Babies like to wake up early. McCutie Book Worm likes to enjoy a bit of light reading when she wakes up.

Today is a nice relaxing Sunday where we don’t have any plans or obligations, and it’s nice for a change. We’ll see what the day brings!

  1. Sounds like the family time was fun! Just keep in perspective that one “bad” day does not outdo all of your hard work! It’s tough to rationalize but the good outweighs the bad 🙂

  3. Glad to read that I am not the only one that struggles on the weekend with how much they eat!! I have been better lately, but the weekends are just harder!!!

  4. I have a hard time on the weekends, too. I think it is easier during the week because I am more scheduled but on the weekends, I just do whatever. Besides, it doesn’t help that I am tired from cooking all week and I tend to use that as an excuse to eat out or just be lazy and eat crap food. Here is to having a good week….and working on making the weekends better!!

    I love that Poppyseed dressing too. It goes so well with fruit and nuts in a salad. Baby Book Worm looks so excited to have a big girl paperback!
