Strawberry Banana Smoothie

I’m such a sweet wife, I made Danny a heart-shaped cookie (and I only stole one bite of it!)

This morning, I tried to upload my pictures on the computer, and I got this message:

Catastrophic failure?! That makes it sounds like it’s the end of the world or something. Catastrophic failure. Geesh. Luckily, I just unplugged my camera and plugged it back in and it worked fine. Catastrophic failure adverted.

Last Night’s Workout

  • 2.5 miles treadmill (walk/run)
  • Biggest Loser Circuit Workout

I have been noticing for the past few day that my left hip has been bothering me a bit when I walk or run. I have had hip bursitis before and it is not fun. I think I need to start stretching and foam rolling more. I have been so bad about stretching lately. And since yoga class is the same time as my biggest loser workouts, I haven’t been to yoga in over 6 weeks. I’m thinking about skipping the 5k prep workout on Wednesday night and going to yoga instead.

Our biggest loser workout was tough last night. I think my body was just sore and tired, but I managed to get through it. Some of the exercises we did included:

  • quick feet drills (running in place with legs open)
  • squats
  • jumping jacks with light weights
  • bent over rows
  • lunges with high kicks
  • one-legged biceps curls
  • mountain climbers
  • planks
  • side planks
  • bicycle sit-ups

By the time I got home, I was ready for a shower.

Today’s Workout

  • Butts and Guts Class

We didn’t use any equipment in class today, but instead spent 20 seconds doing an exercise with 10 seconds of rest in between. We finished up with some ab work.

Breakfast

This morning, I pulled out the strawberry banana Chobani Greek yogurt. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a big fan of bananas. I tasted the yogurt, and you could definitely taste the banana flavor. It’s great if you like bananas, but since I don’t, I decided to use the yogurt in a smoothie.

In my smoothie:

  • container of strawberry banana Greek yogurt
  • 12 frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

The chia seeds definitely added a different texture to the smoothie. It wasn’t bad, just a different texture than I’m used to, but still delicious. After I made the smoothie, I stuck it in the freezer until I left to go to the gym. Then, I brought it to the gym with me to drink after my workout.

For me, the strawberry banana yogurt works so much better in a smoothie than eaten by itself.

Later this afternoon, the kids have tennis lessons. I’m not looking forward to it.

Well, Jacob is fine, but I think Jaden is a little bit to young for tennis. He doesn’t want to stand there and listen to the instructor talk about backhands, ready positions, and how to hold a racquet correctly. He just wants to smack tennis balls as hard as he can and then run around chasing them.

Basically for forty-five minutes, the instructor is trying to get Jaden to pay attention, while I’m yelling at him to pay attention and stop hanging from the tennis nets. At least there’s only two classes left….

Questions of the day:

  • Do you stretch? How often?
  • Favorite smoothie?
  • What did you have for breakfast today?
