Babies are Fun

Life is back to normal today. Danny, my brother, and sister-in-law all went back to work today, and I’m back to watching my niece. I like vacations as much as the next person, but I also like when life returns back to normal and, I can follow my normal schedule.

Breakfast #1

Before I headed to the gym this morning, I ate half a grapefruit. I’m not normally too hungry right when I wake up, so I figured that I’d try the half a grapefruit thing before I go to the gym and then have a regular breakfast when I get home.

Obviously, I can’t work a grapefruit because I cut it in half the wrong way and had to actually peel it instead of eating the sections with a spoons. Oh well, I guess I’ll know for next time.

I planned on sprinkling Truvia on top of the grapefruit but it was really sweet and I didn’t need to. The white membrane part is bitter-tasting, but the actual fruit is sweet.

Today’s Workout

  • BodyPump

Just a normal Monday BodyPump workout, nothing special. But I did sign up for the Biggest Loser Challenge at my gym before I left today. Tomorrow is the orientation night, so I figured I’d see if the challenge was full yet, and if it wasn’t, I’d join. Well, it wasn’t full, and I’m officially signed up. The challenge meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays with monthly weigh-ins.

Breakfast #2

After BodyPump, I came home and ate two pieces of toast and cherries. I went to get the peanut butter while my toast was cooking (toasting?), and I couldn’t find it anywhere. Then I remembered that I ate all the peanut butter. Damn. Luckily, I dug half a package of almond butter out of the cabinet so my toast didn’t have to go to waste.

After breakfast #2, I went to pick up McCutie Baby Niece Face, and we ran a few errands.

One of them included stopping at Michael’s craft store for some supplies for a special secret project that I’m working on for my sister-in-law’s baby shower on Sunday. I am so excited to be an aunt again!

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law are going old school and not finding out the sex of the baby. That takes a lot of willpower. I told the doctor that as soon as he found out the sex of my baby, I wanted to know. I was just so excited to paint the nursery and shop for cute clothes. Plus, I figure whether you find out the sex of the baby during the ultrasound or during the birth, it’s still a surprise, you’re just getting surprised a little bit sooner with the ultrasound.

Questions of the day:

  • Do you eat breakfast first thing in the morning?
  • If you have kids, did you find out the sex?
  • Baby shower or wedding shower? I love baby showers. I don’t care about seeing pots, pans, and platters, but I love seeing cute baby stuff!

I did not know the baby’s sex until birth. Ultrasounds were only performed for high risk births but that was back in the 80’s! I cannot eat until around 9 or 10am….I dont know why. Have fun at the baby shower, yeah baby stuff is more fun!

  2. I did’nt find out with any of my 3. It was fun not to know and enjoy the suprise! Wspecially when i had Brendan. If I’m home I eat breakfast after thegym, but with school I’ve ben eating before I leave because we don’t get but a 20 min break to eat thru a 7 hour class! I love baby stuff too- justdon’t want anymore of my own. yikes! Baby McCutie is a dollbaby!

  3. I eat 1st thing in the morning-my stomach sometimes wakes me up with its growling. :)

Yes, I found out that I was going to have a girl. I figured I already get other surprise in life-like having a flat tire, etc. :)

I do not like showers-in any form or fashion. Well, I do like the food. But that is ALL! :)

    And your niece is adorable!

  4. I love vacations and weekends and all the yummy food that comes with them, but I also thrive on my weekly healthy eating! Im excited for you and your BL challenge at your gym. 10 lbs is my goal…here we go, we can all do this!!!

  5. With my first son, we were all surprised, even though I had a major feeling he was a boy. The second time around, my husband found out and kept it a surprise from me. He even painted a nursery and everything without me finding out! I’m still amazed that neither of us cheated because he’s horrible with surprises, and I’m horrible with willpower.

  6. I used to refuse to eat breakfast but I’ve found that eating a filling breakfast within in an hour of waking keeps my food choices on track for the rest of the day. It seems like our eating habits are backwards. Most people eat a small breakfast, a bigger lunch and an even bigger dinner! We don’t need all of that food right before bedtime! I’ve made a conscious effort to switch that around. Big breakfast, smaller lunch and even smaller dinner. Makes a big difference!!

I feel the same way. I’m too impatient and MUST know the sex.

I love attending both types of showers. It’s touching to see the bride-to-be open gifts that will soon rest in her future home and the mom-to-be beaming over sweet baby onesies and bibs. Both are huge milestones in a woman’s life!

    • I’ve been trying to eat a bigger breakfast to keep me fuller throughout the day. It’s so hard for me because I’m used to eating a small breakfast and large dinner – I have to start working on it. Showers are so much fun – you’re right, it’s such a big milestone :)
