What’s Next

We got a new cat. I named her McKitty.

Just kidding. That’s just my niece. But isn’t she adorable? I forgot how hard it is having a baby around. She likes to be sneaky and get into everything. She likes rearranging Jaden’s Skylander collection the best.

A few people have asked me about what I plan to do next after losing 22 pounds. I still have about 10-12 pounds that I would like to lose to be at a weight where I feel comfortable. It’s a weight that I have been before, so I know that I’m not striving for a weight that isn’t ideal for my body. I plan to stick to writing down what I eat and counting calories.

I am debating joining the Biggest Loser contest at my gym. I really like the contest because you meet three times a week to workout with an optional 5k training workout. There are also nutrition seminars and monthly weigh-ins. I’m a little bit nervous about reverting back to old eating habits, and I feel like this contest would help me feel like I was on the right track.

I don’t thinking winning the contest would be in the cards because I don’t feel like I have enough weight to lose; I would just participate to help keep myself accountable. On the other hand, it would cost me $225. I don’t know if it’s worth $225 to lose 10 pounds that I could probably lose on my own. I think I am going to take this next week and half to see how I do, and if I’m having a hard time, then I’ll join.

Today’s Workout

  • BodyPump

The new BodyPump releases is hard. There are so many push-ups that my arms feel like jelly by the time we’re done. Danny has next week off, and I’m going to see if I can get him to go with me on Monday to BodyPump.

My weight-loss teacher gave me a bracelet for winning the contest last night. I think it was a great gift because I plan on wearing it to remind of how hard I worked to lose weight and how I want to keep it off. So, if I’m reaching for a fourth cookie, I’ll see the bracelet and think, hmmm do I really need this cookie? Probably not. I should maybe say that after the first or second cookie actually.

We have some fun plans next week – we’re going to take the kids to Wisconsin Dells for a few days. Which means that I have to do something that I hate – buy a bathing suit. I don’t care if I’m 22 pounds less, I hate bathing suits no matter what. I bought a tankini last year when we went on vacation to Florida, and for some reason the top is missing. I have the bottoms, but the top is just gone. I looked everywhere for it, and trust me, I looked good because I don’t want go bathing suit shopping again. But now I have to. Sigh.

Questions of the day:

  • Would you try to lose the last 10 pounds yourself or join the contest?
  • Do you like shopping for bathing suits?
  • Any vacations planned for this summer?

Just an FYI, I participated in a Biggest Loser comp. at my gym and it was nothing like they said it would be. They wanted extra $ after it started for the trainers that were supposed to be included and they never did any of the weigh ins, it was basically just an expensive membership. You may want to verify with your gym just to make sure. It may just have been the gym. I went to just dropped the ball or something. Great job on your weight loss!

    • Thanks for the info – that’s too bad about your contest. I think the one at my gym is okay. It’s through the park district and they did it last year with good results. Lasts year prize was two airline tickets. This years in an arc trainer!

I’d try and do it myself! Thats alot of money for just 10 pounds! Thats 22.50 per pound! YOu can do it Heather! I’m doing it on my own and so can you! Only vacay planned is I’m going on a 40th bday trip with a friend and some others to celebrate her day. Were going to Vegas! I love Vegas. And I don’t know ANYONE who likes shopping for bathing suits! Have fun in the Dells!

  3. Very cute kitty! I like the bracelet. Pieces of jewelry like that that mean something are so special.

I know you can do it on your own. But, if its a matter of knowing you have to weigh in in front of other people I thiink you should replace tham with a couple of people you know who you would keep you hungry for success… no pun intended.

Oh, and by the way…someone is after that chip so you better protect it and keep it in a safe place!!!

  6. I think you should try to do it on your own. $225 is a lot of money!!
I hate bathing suit shopping, as well. I don’t envy you. :-( But in general, I hate clothes shopping. I need to lose a lot more weight before I start to enjoy those adventures again.

  7. If you hit the Dells, you may want to explore Devil’s Lake. Great hiking! Anyway, could you use the $ you won for the last contest towards this one? It does sound expensive, but you may learn a lot from the trainers. Or, you may not.

I hope to go to Maine & Vermont for vacation.

    • Thats a great idea about using the money towards this new contest. And I do think it’ll be a good learning experience. I’ll have to remember to check out Devil’s Lake.
