Running with Three Legs

Yesterday

Last night, we hit up Whole Foods again to pick up a few more goodies, mostly fresh fruit and things from the deli.

There are two Whole Foods about the same distance from me, but only one of them carries fresh cut-up mango slices. Since we were at different Whole Foods than we were on Friday, I made sure to buy some mango.

They were giving out samples of the best four berry pie that I have ever tasted. (Mom, do you like four berry pie? Because your birthday is coming up and I need an excuse to buy a whole one). I didn’t get a picture because I ate my sample so fast. They were also giving out samples of crab, which was delicious.

Today’s Breakfast

I used more chia seeds in today’s breakfast. I mixed up some overnight oats which included:

  • 1/2 cup Quaker oats
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/8 tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp. chia seeds
  • 2 pieces of Hershey’s chocolate, broken up into small pieces

This oatmeal didn’t have any yogurt like I usually include, and the chia seeds make it super thick, so I had to add a splash of almond milk in the morning. It tastes more like a thick cookie dough.

It might not look very appetizing, but the chocolate really adds a nice sweetness to it.

Today’s Workout

  • Three-legged race

Okay, not really. I didn’t go to the gym this morning because Danny and I volunteered at Jacob’s last ever Field Day at his school. Our activity was the three-legged race.

The kids had such a fun time doing the three-legged race. It worked out that Jaden was there because whenever a kid didn’t have a partner, we just threw Jaden in there.

When we didn’t have any kids waiting in line, Danny and I made sure to practice in case we have a surprise three-legged race coming up anytime in the future.

I packed some mango and cherries to eat while we were at Jacob’s school.

I plan on trying to get to the gym later this afternoon. Sometimes it’s hard to motivate myself if I don’t go first thing in the morning. I mean, I’m already showered, dressed, and have make-up on. It would be so much easy to just stay home… I’ll probably still end up going though. I’m motivated enough because there’s only four more days until my final weigh-in.

Speaking of weigh-ins, I weighed myself on Saturday morning, and I weighed three pounds less than I did at my weigh-in Thursday night. Geesh, either me or the scale was having a bad day. I’m not quite sure what is up, but I hope it stays like that for my final weigh-in.

    I too like am workouts much better. I’m more motivated then. But starting next week I’m in school 4 days per week mon- thur. So I’ll be doing afternoon workouts til my class is over in late July. I weighed my self today and after 15 days of watching my eating and working out 14 out of 15 days I’ve lost almost 5 lbs all ready!!! Thanks for your advice and motivating me to get back to gym. Your blog was my main motivator!!!

  2. 1. I probably have ran a three-legged race, but it must have been a long time ago :)
    2. I workout in the morning 99% of the time. I like to get it out of the way, and I have less time to make excuses.
    3. I love mangos! My mother-in-law just gave us some and they are probably the sweetest I’ve ever had! Even the grocery bag retained the smell after 2 days haha!

    I WISH I was a morning person because the one time I ran in the morning I felt great ALL day, AND I knew I had already accomplished it! I’m like you-when I’m looking presentable with makeup, etc. it unmotivates me sometimes. :)

  6. Later in June look for Whole Food’s “Michigan Berry” pies. Delish! Also, so great that you volunteered for Field Day! Ours is tomorrow & we had difficulty getting volunteers this year.

    • I am going to look for the Michigan Berry pie – sounds yummy!! Have fun at Field Day. I always make sure to volunteer at my kid’s school when the opportunity arises. But I also am lucky enough to have the free time to do it!

    You must have one lucky Mom to get a Berry pie for her birthday:) All I remember from my last 3 legged race was eating dirt and grass because my face met the ground pretty fast!

    I get my best workouts done in the afternoon. When I worked at Lifetime I used to work out in the middle of the day I loved it! Now I work out in the evening after work. It’s fine but not as ideal.
