Happy Memorial Day!
Last night, my family came over again for another cookout. This time I remembered the camera for the s’mores.
I bought the giant campfire marshmallows, not realizing that you’re supposed to use a full graham cracker for these babies. We were all a giant sticky mess after eating our s’mores and had to take turns scrubbing ourselves off in the sink. I am so talented, I even managed to get marshmallows all over my legs. But it was a fun night!
Since it’s Memorial Day, Danny and the kids are home today. I wanted to stick to my normal schedule as much as possible because I tend to overeat a lot during the weekend, and I didn’t want that to carry on into Monday also. I am trying hard to stick to healthy eating during the weekends, but it’s so hard. We’re usually busy during the weekends; running around, doing errands, seeing family, eating out. I prefer the weekdays when I’m at home and have a normal routine. It’s something I continue to work on.
This morning, I woke up at 7 am. Not by choice, but because my body is used to waking up at that time (although, I did sleep in until 10 am the morning before!). Since everybody else was still sleeping, I decided to head to the gym. I wasn’t very hungry, so I just had a mini Luna bar before I left.
When I first pulled into the gym parking lot, I wasn’t even sure if they were open because hardly anyone was there. There wasn’t any fitness classes, kid’s room, or open gym today, but the fitness center was still open.
- 5 miles treadmill (ran 1/4 mile very fast and walked 1/4 mile)
- 12 minutes stretching
I planned on only running three miles this morning, but I was watching the pilot episode of Supernatural on my iPod, and I felt good, so I just kept going. I ran a quarter of a mile at a fast-for-me pace, and then walked a quarter of a mile for a total of five miles. Sometimes when I’m caught up in a show, I can just keep going. Unfortunately, my current gym doesn’t have tvs built into the treadmills like my old gym did, so I just watch on my iPod.
It felt so nice to stretch afterwards. I haven’t spent a good amount of time stretching lately.
Blurry, sweaty, and crazy hair:
After working out, I came home, showered, and then we headed out to do some grocery shopping. I found this Panera poppy seed dressing at Target that I’m excited to try on my spinach and strawberry salads.
I currently use the Annie’s poppy seed dressing, which I like but it has 70 calories for two tablespoons. The Panera poppy seed only has 15 calories for two tablespoons. Hopefully it’s as good as the Annie’s.
As soon as we got home, I dove into the cherries that I bought.
I love summer fruit so much, and I can’t wait until peaches and pluots are in season.
We’re going to spend the rest of the day relaxing, and I am going to see if I can get Danny to take me to see Men in Black 3. I thought that the first two movies were fun, and want to see the new one!
