What About Lunch?

Last Night’s Workout

  • Beginner Step Class – 20 minutes
  • Regular Step Class – 60 minutes

Last night, I went to the beginner step class. Afterwards, I decided to stay for the big girl step class. I pushed my step up all the way to the front on the room so I could watch the instructor’s feet. It helps me pick up a move by watching her feet.

I actually did better in the class than I thought I would. I did misstep a few times, but I thought I did pretty good for someone who usually trips over her own feet. I didn’t stay for yoga last night. I was too tired and hungry.

When I got home, I made a big salad consisting of everything in the fridge I could find to throw on it. My salad included romaine lettuce, red and green pepper, red onion, carrots, cashews, and Honeycrisp apples. I topped the whole salad with Annie’s lite poppy-seed dressing.

Then Danny and I spent the rest of the night watching the season finale of CSI. Some popcorn might have found its way into my mouth too.

I finished reading Insurgent by Veronica Roth the other day. It picks up right where Divergent left off. I personally thought this book was just okay. I liked Divergent much better. Divergent seemed to have more of a plot, whereas Insurgent was just a lot of running around and shooting. The story didn’t really start to pick up until the end. Although I didn’t love the plot, I did think the story had some twists which made it interesting. I did love the ending of this book, which has sucked me in to now have to read the final book.

If you’ve read Insurgent, let me know what you thought of it!

Today’s Workout

  • 3.25 miles treadmill (3:2 run/walk ratio)

I went to the gym this morning for a quick treadmill workout. The Mother’s Day 5k is on Sunday, and I plan on walk/running it. I haven’t been able to run for long distances without my feet and heel killing me, so I plan on taking the race slow. That’s just how it goes.

Fortunately, my calves have been feeling fine. At least something is getting better. I think they heard the word surgery and decided to shape up. That’s right, calves, you better listen to me.

After my sweaty run, the kids and I ran a few errands. I stopped by the grocery store to pick up some more Honeycrisp apples. These are the best apples I’ve ever had. There is no apple that compares to a Honeycrisp.

Yeah, lunch didn’t really happen today. I know what your thinking. Oh mm gee, Heather must be sick if she didn’t eat lunch. There’s no skipping meals in her world. And actually I am feeling a little bit sick, like maybe I’m getting a cold.

Actually, I blame my dad. Danny went to his house on Tuesday to watch the Bulls game. My dad got sick on Wednesday, which means Danny was exposed to his germs on Tuesday. Danny, who never gets sick ever must have passed along the germs to me. And I get sick at the drop of a hat. So thanks, Dad, for getting me sick. And if you didn’t get me sick, then I apologize. Oh, and I’m not crazy, if that’s what you all are thinking. My mom had me tested. <— Just kidding. A little Big Bang Theory humor.

I did cut up some veggies for a salad.

I just never actually made the salad. I guess maybe I’ll make it in a bit.

I have my weigh-in tonight. Thursday always seem to come too fast. I hoping for at least one pound weight loss. I ate really crappy over the weekend, but I’ve done good all week so far.

Questions of the day:

  • Do you ever skip meals? What’s your favorite meal? I love breakfast food, but dinner is my favorite meal. That makes breakfast for dinner perfect.
  • What’s the last book that you read? Was it Fifty Shades of Grey?
  • What’s your favorite tv show?

  1. I never miss a meal. I also love breakfast for dinner. But, Thanksgiving Dinner is the BEST. I read “But I Deserve This Chocolate” by Dr. Susan Albers. Thinking about reading 50 Shades this summer. My current favorite TV show are all the “Real Housewives of….” series.

    • Yes! Thanksgiving dinner is the best dinner of the year! I’ve never watched any if the real housewives series. Maybe I should check them out – I hear so much about it!

For breakfast I have almonds with dried cranberries at my desk every morning. I love the crunch, crunch, crunch. My favorite meal is dinner because I am at home, not in a rush and not distracted.

I am reading a book about Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks. It’s like a combo of good intentions, crazy minds and covert espionage. His message is that we’ve all got a right to know. It’s also a reflection of how the news media has changed over the years and people don’t know what to believe anymore.

Favorite TV Show: Reruns of Arnold Schwarznegger movies, ha ha!

If I skip a meal, it’s not pretty. I feel like I am constantly eating! I have to eat every 2-3 hours. It takes planning and always having clean eats on hand.

Skip a meal? Never! At each meal I’m already thinking about my next meal! :) I have been trying to eat lighter for breakfast and lunch because I love looking forward to my supper!

The last book I read was Undone- a mystery by Karin Slaughter. It was great!
