Water Park

We had an awesome weekend celebrating Jaden’s birthday!

It started out Saturday with lunch. I found this cute train restaurant that just opened near us. All of the seats are around the track and all your food is delivered by train. Even Jacob, who is older, thought it was cool.

The menu was pretty much burgers and hotdogs. There was one salad on the menu, and I didn’t really have high hopes for it because it was mainly a burger place. But I was wrong – the salad was great. It had mixed greens, red onion, mandarin oranges, grape tomatoes (which I took off), and pine nuts with balsamic vinaigrette. This is one of those times when I don’t mind being wrong.

I also had french fries, because what is a meal without fries?!

After lunch, we headed to a water park hotel!

The kids were so excited to swim in February and had so much fun. The kids swam for a while, then we headed out to find somewhere to go for dinner.

Can you see Jaden in the giant waterfall?

We finally found a Buffalo Wild Wings to eat at. The kids played games most of the time and managed to eat a little bit of food.

I ordered the fish tacos with teriyaki sauce, which were actually a lot better than I expected. I seem to have low food expectations today.

After dinner, we went back to the hotel, watched some tv, ate some popcorn, and the kids played their video games.

Sunday was Jaden’s actual birthday, and when he woke up in the morning, he requested cinnamon melts for breakfast (again)! I had packed some Greek yogurt and other little snack to eat in the morning, but the fridge in the hotel was too cold and everything froze.

Instead, I had a coffee and a fruit & yogurt parfait from McDonald’s. After our quick breakfast, the kids swam a little bit more, and then we headed home.

At home, Jaden opened his birthday presents.

Lately, he has been loving the Where’s My Water game on my iPod, so when I saw a t-shirt of the game at Target, I just had to get it for him. He loved it!

We had a super busy, but fun weekend. I can’t believe that my baby is five already! The time flies by so fast!

Questions of the day:

Do you have any kids? Doesn’t it seem like the time just flies by?

When was the last time you went to a water park?

Did you do anything fun (or lame) over the weekend?

Don’t forget to enter my thinkThink giveaway. Ends February 22nd!

  1. Too funny! I know which hotel you were at. What did you think of it? We only went for the day. There is the Two Toots in Downers Grove and Glenn Elynn too, if you are ever in the neighborhood.

    • We were at the one in Elmhurst, and I wasn’t really impressed. It was crowded and the water was cold. And almost every arcade game was broken. And there were people yelling outside our room half the night. We took Jacob there about 5 years ago and it was a lot better then.
