I Tried

Yesterday afternoon, my right quad was still bothering me, so I bought a bag of lavender Epsom salt, poured it into the tub, and soaked for about a half hour. I figured that if it didn’t soothe my aching muscles, at least it would promote restful sleep. Plus, it smelled good.

Then I iced my hip and quad. There is no way that I going through hip bursitis again. I think hopefully, it’s just sore.

Still, I didn’t want to take any chances at the gym. So, rather than do the cardio & weights circuit that I planned on doing, I just stuck to an upper body and ab workout.

I warmed up by stretching for 5 minutes. Then I did each circuit 3x.

Upper Body (on exercise ball):

  • Front shoulder raise x12
  • Side shoulder raise x12
  • Biceps curls x12
  • Overhead extension x12
  • Triceps extension x12
  • Upright row x12


  • 25 sit-ups on exercise ball
  • 50 side bends (each side) with 8 lb kettle ball (it was the heaviest weight I could find)
  • 15 crunches with twists using 6 lb. medicine ball

I finished up my workout with 20 leg lifts on each side and 5 minutes of stretching.

When I left the gym, I asked the front desk about my nutritionist session, because I still haven’t received a phone call to schedule it. They said that the nutritionist already tried to call me twice, which is weird because I have no missed calls or voicemails. Then even doubled checked my phone number on file, and it was correct. So, they are going to have her try and call again, and hopefully I can get this appointment set up soon!


I actually ate something different for lunch today – bet you didn’t see that coming!

I still stuck to the bagel theme, because I’m not that crazy yet. I had smoked salmon, cream cheese, and red onion on a whole wheat bagel.

Looks yummy. Didn’t taste yummy. Surprisingly, I didn’t like it. I thought I would because I like salmon, but the texture of this salmon was different – it was almost too soft somehow. See what I get for trying new foods?!

I saved lunch with a chocolate snack pack. Now that’s yummy.

Tonight, we’re going to my in-laws for pizza and ice cream. Should be a fun night!

    I love salmon….but not smoked salmon, it’s gross.

    You are wise to listen to your body and not to cardio today, give it a few days rest. The epsom salt is a good idea also. Hang in there, I know it’s tough!
