Shopping and Cheesecake

Danny and I went to Woodfield Mall to do a little Christmas shopping. Woodfield Mall is huge - it has over 285 stores and restaurants, and is crazy with people on a normal day. But around the holidays, it is insane – it took us forever just to get into the parking lot because they were directing traffic. But 285 stores make for some good Christmas shopping.

We stopped at Whole Foods on the way so that I could pick up some more pancake mix and chocolate chips. The chocolate chips were $2.69 and there was a $2 off coupon for them. .69 cents for chocolate chips from Whole Foods?! That’s unheard of. I kind of wish I would have stocked up.

I was hungry, so I decided to grab a snack – kettle corn with chocolately drizzle. This is weird because I never buy kettle corn and I never buy popcorn with chocolate. I just grabbed the first thing I saw because I was hungry. Oh my gosh, this popcorn is amazing. I don’t know why it took me so long to buy kettle popcorn with chocolate, but I am so glad that I did.

I think I ate about 3/4 of the bag myself. I did let Danny have a couple pieces because I’m nice.

After shopping for a couple of hours, we were getting hungry for dinner. We decided to try the Cheesecake Factory because we have never been there. The wait was 1 hour and 10 minutes. We really debating waiting that long and I was starving, but we decided to go ahead and wait. I am so glad that we did – The Cheesecake Factory was awesome.

By the time we sat down, it was after 8pm, and I was starving, so we ordered some nachos. The nachos were huge and we pretty much inhaled them. We debated sharing a meal – but what fun is that? Plus, we figured we could save the leftovers for lunch.

Danny ordered the orange chicken – that rice ball is the size of my head. I ordered Evelyn’s Favorite Pasta, which is penne tossed with broccoli, oven-dried tomato, roasted eggplant, peppers, artichoke, garlic, and pine nuts.

The pasta was the best pasta that I ever had – it was delicious. And I could only eat a few bites because I was so full from the nachos and complimentary bread. Danny and I could have easily shared something and had food leftover – the portions are huge.

And you can’t go the Cheesecake Factory and not get cheesecake, so we got a piece of Hershey’s Chocolate Bar cheesecake to take home.

By the time we left the mall, it was freezing out – so I had to use my scarf to keep my ears warm. Parking 50 miles away didn’t help matters either.

We ate the cheesecake at home while watching CSI and wrapping Christmas presents. It was good but not outstanding. I am more of a regular cheesecake with strawberries person, so while the chocolate cheesecake was good, it just wasn’t my taste. But Danny doesn’t like regular cheesecake, so we compromised and got the chocolate.

After wrapping two presents, we ran out of tape and couldn’t wrap anymore. At least we caught up on CSI.

Do you like cheesecake? Do you like CSI?
