Yesterday was a pretty rough day – I had severe sinus pressure, a cough, and lots of wheeziness. And I’m pretty sure that everyone is sick of hearing about it – I know that I am. Thankfully, I got antibiotics from the doctor and am on my way to feeling better.
I wasn’t too hungry yesterday, but I stopped at Starbucks and had an egg and cheese sandwich with some Naked OJ for lunch. Starbucks will serve breakfast sandwiches all day as long as they have some left and they kindly take off the ham for me.
Last night for dinner, I planned on having “sit in the fridge for awhile oats”. I mixed up Greek yogurt, oats, and almond milk and let it sit in the fridge. But after 30 minutes I wasn’t feeling too hungry, so I decided to leave it in the fridge until this morning.
So, I had real “overnight oats” for breakfast today. I also had Bear Naked chocolate cherry trail mix that the company sent me. Cranberries, almonds, cherries, raisins, and whole grain chocolate granola clusters. After I got the raisins out of there, it was pretty darn good.
Okay, enough about sickness and food. Let’s move on to better stuff – like the holidays! I love Christmas – it’s my favorite time of the year. I love all the fun Christmas activities.
We already had breakfast with Santa. And tomorrow we’re going to cut down our Christmas tree. Every year my family goes out together to cut down a tree.
Cutting down the tree last year:
And I love decorating the tree with Danny and the kids:
Last year, we took the kids on the Polar Express. We went on the train to the North Pole and read the Polar Express book and sang Christmas carols. Santa came on the train and passed out a bell to each child, just like the bell in the book. Then the kids got to see Santa and each kid got an ornament and a cookie. The kids loved it.
I also love Christmas cookies. Actually, I love them a little too much.
I love getting together with my family and friends around the holidays and exchanging presents.
My favorite part is watching the kids open their gifts on Christmas morning. It’s such a magical time for them and they are so happy.
We also make sure that we give gifts to others that may not have any through JC Penney’s Adopt an Angel program.
And every year, we get together with my family for a New Year’s Eve party because it’s all about being with the ones you love to bring in the new year. And if you can’t be with the ones you love, at least you have them in your thoughts and hearts.
What are your holiday traditions? Or what is your favorite time of the year?
